COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nothing common here, just great beer! “Commonly” consumed in California’s early gold rush days when those old wood kegs would literally burst from the pressure of the beer, leading to the nickname Steam Beer. Super Nova is ruby-gold with a refreshingly smooth sweetness that’s complimented by an All-American crisp hop finish.

On tap at Lazlo’s in West Omaha. Nice white head that dissipated slowly with nice lacing. Not much aroma. Taste was tart with grapefruit notes. Hoppy finish. Like many Empyrean brews, very drinkable but nothing to write home about.

12 oz bottle best before October from that smoke shop in McCook, NE. This is a hazy light orange with a long lasting white head. Aroma has notes of peaches, earthy hops, and bread. The palate is medium with some noticeable sugars giving it body. There are flavors of stone fruit, grassy hops, and grains. Backend bitterness starts to build towards the end of the glass. Decent enough.

Bottle. Deep golden with one finger head. Lightly sweet with some mild spice, wheat, and light hops. Has a faint apple cider taste. Interesting, but average.

Only had a small sample at a tasting. However, it tasted beer than it's current RB rating. Aggressive carbonation and decent hops for the low abv. Some nice subtle sweetness as well. Decent.

Bottle. Pours a clear honey color with a thick white marshmallow head. Aroma of citrus, cereal, and biscuits. Sweet and salty. Biscuits, citrus, wheat, and cereal dominate the palate. A subtle bit of honey on the finish. Siolid beer.

UPDATED: AUG 14, 2015 Supernova seems to want to taste like a California Common but its hoppiness is more indicative of an American Pale Ale. That works for me! I like the spicy, herbal notes of the hops. Carbonation is lively but also a bit harsh. Not Empyrean’s very best but it’s worth having.

triplehopped (53) - - AUG 17, 2013
Pours a cloudy, pale gold with a medium white head that dissipates moderately fast with little to no lacing. A hint of citrusy hops combined with the aromas of grain malt makes for a sweet, malty aroma. Lively carbonation and light body, sits smooth and finishes clean. Medium sweet and light bitter taste. Overall, a fair balance of hops and malt (leaning on the hops) making for a satisfying brew.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden orange color with white head. Bread, cereal aromas. Bitter, toast, malty flavors. Pretty boring.
