3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Slick (1971) - Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA - JUN 11, 2004Nice brown/amber color.Small light tan head that faded quickly and left little behind.Malty aroma with a bit of caramel and a little roastiness and a bit on the sweet side but not overly done.Nice flavor of burnt caramel and malt with slight sweet flavor up front changeing to a mild bitterness at the end with a mild hop presence. It might not be a great brew but it is definately a brew i could get used to and turn into a nice session brew. Thanks go to Matt_Dinges for sending this brew my way.

Got on tap at the local Old Chicago. Pours brown with light brown head. Not too sweet, not too dry. Has a bit of a nutty aroma. Was hoping the taste would follow, but not much flavor to speak of. Very mild and light. I may have gotten a bad sample as I finished off the keg. Will have to try again.

On tap at Lazlo’s in Lincoln. From Notes 9/29/2012. Pours a brownish color with white head. Nutty, malty, toffee flavors. My favorite Empyrean beer I’ve had so far. At my travel site, 50 miles northwest of Omaha, I am always hoping that they have this one at the bars. When they do, I’m relieved to get something both local and 10 times better than Bud.

Pours clear light brown with an off-white head. Thin mouth feel, decent aroma of coffee, hints of chocolate and caramel. Not to bad, but feels like a stout/porter knock-off.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. The aroma is berry, toasted malts. The flavor is chocolate, roasted malts, yeasty, berries, slight woodiness. A well made brown ale. Reminds me of the chocolate covered jelly sticks.

A solid brown but nothing special. Pours a somewhat pale brown with a fizzy head that quickly fades. Malt and a hint of nuts.

Not a bad brown. I would like to see a longer-lasting head. Also, mouthfeel was on the thin side - needs a little more body.

Bottle pours ruby brown with floaties and khaki head. Aroma is smooth slight sweetness with roasted barley and a little tobacco. The taste is frothy and malty, very malty, moderately roasted with a little fruit in the finish. The carbonation is light as is the body for a darker brown, to fit their "easy drinking brown ale" concept. For a standard American brown it?s enjoyable.
