3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Lazloís in Lincoln. From Notes 9/29/2012. Pours a brownish color with white head. Nutty, malty, toffee flavors. My favorite Empyrean beer Iíve had so far. At my travel site, 50 miles northwest of Omaha, I am always hoping that they have this one at the bars. When they do, Iím relieved to get something both local and 10 times better than Bud.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle from trade with billygoatbeard - still love a good brown and this is solid! aroma of malt, nut, caramel, roast. pour is an off brown that is hazy. Taste similar to aroma, nuts and sweetness up front and slight hops with slightest coffee maybe on backend. I would grab a six pack if this was local. Thanks Joel!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Even for a brown ale, Third Stone has a body thatís light and smooth. The carbonation is gentle and the texture is pleasantly slick. Of course, that minimalist body has a downside: the flavor and aroma get pushed into the background. While Third Stone hints at chocolate and roasted malt, itís happy just to tease. In that sense, this brown ale doesnít quite deliver. All the same, itís a respectable brew.

Pours a light maple color. Low head on pour but fine lacing. Get a good hint of chocolate and roasted nuts. Low hop presence and slightly sweet taste that lingers.

Its sweet, but not like English browns. Has a chocolate and nutty roasted flavor. Thickish and stick palate.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep chocolate brown with a small tan head and small lacing. Aroma is a roasty malt with a very subtle hint of hay. Taste is medium sweet. Medium bodied with average carbonation, sits smooth and finishes clean with a slight, pleasant bitterness. Overall, a satisfying brown that would have accompanied a steak or burger superbly.

Got on tap at the local Old Chicago. Pours brown with light brown head. Not too sweet, not too dry. Has a bit of a nutty aroma. Was hoping the taste would follow, but not much flavor to speak of. Very mild and light. I may have gotten a bad sample as I finished off the keg. Will have to try again.
