2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
I donít quite get dubbels. There are many decent brews, but I still havenít found a truly magnificent one. This goes for the Ename Dubbel as well. The appearance is not bad: an inviting dark brown body crowned with a fairly long-lived, light-brown head that laces the glass well. The aroma is pleasant, but very faint. Itís yeasty, lightly toasted, some mild dried dark fruits, a bit of caramel, a touch of bread and a hint of spices. The taste is medium sweet with a misplaced light sourness, and the whole thing ends in a light to medium bitter dry finish. The flavours are even fainter than the aroma, but again, quite nice. Surprisingly light body and a rather watery texture. Nah.
