Bottle at home in London. Pours red brown with a moderate, light tan head. Some fruits in the nose, perhaps berries, with light caramel. Medium sweet, plenty more berries, some mild herbal hops, lightly toasted sugars. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sweet but dry to finish, some dried fruits, berries, mild sweet bread. Alright.

I don’t quite get dubbels. There are many decent brews, but I still haven’t found a truly magnificent one. This goes for the Ename Dubbel as well. The appearance is not bad: an inviting dark brown body crowned with a fairly long-lived, light-brown head that laces the glass well. The aroma is pleasant, but very faint. It’s yeasty, lightly toasted, some mild dried dark fruits, a bit of caramel, a touch of bread and a hint of spices. The taste is medium sweet with a misplaced light sourness, and the whole thing ends in a light to medium bitter dry finish. The flavours are even fainter than the aroma, but again, quite nice. Surprisingly light body and a rather watery texture. Nah.

33cl bottle. Brown colour with a good formation but quickly diminishing tan head. Aroma is toasty, caramelish and nutty. Flavour has dry fruits hints, toasted malts and moderate candy sugar. The final has an average duration maintaining the sweetness. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium to high. Texture is oily.
