COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For the 2011 ENDEAVOUR True Vintage Reserve Pale Ale, we chose Summer, Galaxy and Cascade Hops. Summer came into its own this year and features prominently in our 2011 Pale Ale due to the unprecedented agronomical and analytical results. Given its genealogical makeup and its parentage in the Saaz varieties, it has some nice spice aromas that are typical of the variety, but stone fruits also dominate. Galaxy was used in our 2010 vintage and we liked it so much that we decided to continue with it in 2011 after a good harvest. While important for bittering and providing texture, it also gives a lovely citrus and passionfruit lift.

Bottle - Slightly hazy, yellow/gold. White head. Medium carbonation and body. Sweet. Quite fruity (citrus). Low to medium bitter finish.

This beer flatters to deceive - it’s quite a nice nose with plenty of malt and sweet fruit but the taste is quite bland. Stew41 was on the money with the comparison to Asahi Super Dry - the drinking was kind of like licking cardboard. And where are the hops?

Bottle in Perth, WA. Deep gold with a decent, white head. Belgian yeasts, some apricot and orange, leading to a slightly bitter finish. Ok.

330ml bottle. Golden amber colour with a slight white head and aromas of passion fruit and melon. Flavour is okay without being great. Light on the palate with a bit of a weak finish.

Interesting approach re the vintage dating (for this style of beer at least) but I guess a worthy effort if indeed there is real difference in the recipe from one vintage to the next. A little passion fruit on the nose points to the style but otherwise the palate is bland and sticky ahla Asahi Super Dry. Ultimately commercial and not an all challenging or fruit / flavour driven. The commercial descriptor is well off the pace.

Mjollnir (335) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - NOV 29, 2011
330mL bottle, one month after the "best after" (?!) date. Pours clear gold with a small white head. Malty aroma, not much by the way hop character. Fairly subdued and slightly stale flavour, low sweetness, mild bitterness. Light bodied, average carbonation, short dry finish.

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2011 A very smooth beer for its taste. Almost a creamy texture. No tang after taste like some craft beers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
