Jukkabro (2405), Tampere, Finland Oct 26, 2007 Light coppery colored, little yellow head. Sweet and very rich aroma with maltiness and caramelly-chocolaty-fruity tone. Medium bodied. Flavor is also rich and complex with this caramel, chocolate and toffee, mild dryness from hops. Still some positive unclean Bayern-tone with butter and cardboard, but I think it fits here well. Good beer, not sure about this zwickel-style here. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 26, 2006 On tap at the Engelbräu Brauhaus. Transparent with a paling brass color topped by a sudsy, whipped, frothy white head that’s both dense and jiggling on top. Honey, dryer sheets, fluffy crescent rolls, sugary corn meal and some lemongrass in the aroma lead up to better things to come. Sudden smoothness is imparted as it passes through the lips. Rich caramel rolls in with some dates while a baguette yeast crunch gives the bready cushion characteristic. Grass and piney crescent rolls give a subtle herbaceous complexity. Light-to-medium bodied, honed carbonation and one hell of a balanced hop schedule. Corn flakes, lemon buttered crescent rolls and gardenia take us home with a slight cedar hop bite. This is a damn good Zwickel. MoritzF (3926), Ruhrpott, Germany Apr 4, 2006 (bottle) Amber coloured body with yeast floaties and a short foamy yellowish head. Moderately sweet and strawy, slightly toasted malty aroma. Moderately sweet malty flavour and taste with herbal hops; medium bodied, medium carbonation; dry and medium bitter finish with herbal hops and a light metallic aftertaste. pivnizub (3899), Porúří, Germany Mar 26, 2006 Bottle: Light amber coloured, visible carbonation, small, quite stable off-white head; sweetish cardboardy nose, some traces of caramel; faint sweetish (caramelly) flavour, fizzy mouthfeel; slightly bitter-sweet finish with a bready and a metallic touch. Not a real pleasure, unharmonic, scratchy...... shrubber85 (2592), Honolulu, Hawaii, USA Jun 20, 2005 Bottle. Nice hay/grass aroma with slight hint of barnyard. Clear amber color with small head. Slightly sweet grass/new hay and malt flavor. Decent body. Easy drinking and very enjoyable.
