Ar: Sweet, toasted caramel notes - hints of fresh bread, honeydew melon, pineapple, and orange. Ap: Hazy orange-amber - large off-white head with good retention and a sudsy cap of foam, and a thin trail of lacing. T: Melon and marmalade with a medium sweetness - bitterness is medium-high, and somewhat astringent - some mossy hops mingle with the melon flavor - finish is orange and lemon, with some lingering hop bitterness. P: Medium body with high carbonation - finish is very dry. O: An interesting take on an abbey ale - fruit flavors are refined, and the hop profile is very rustic - quite tasty and unique.

Hazy amber pour with a white head. Aroma of malt and yeast. This one is a bit drier than the greggorious and just a total different beer in general. Finishes crisp and refreshing, compliments food well. Respectable brew.

Pours orange/amber, small head. Smells yeasty, and a bit vinegary. Tastes malty and sweet, with a huge yeast presence. Spices, mild sweet citrus, bread, bit of salt. Finishes slowly, with sweet spiciness and pepper.

11.2oz bottle in a Trappist glass. Pours cloudy amber with a lacy, light beige head. Aroma of spicy yeast, some honey, caramel and pale malts, light hops, and some smokiness. Flavor the same. Average texture. A pretty good Belgian ale, but there are is something that is different about it.

crossovert (4565) - Wisconsin, USA - FEB 28, 2013
330ml bottle. It is a pretty attractive brew, a hazy reddish amber with a huge off-white head that falls into rocky mountains à la Duvel. The smell brings to mind the Saison Dupont yeast, subtley spicey. It mixes with very nice bready malt tones and a slight with of earthy hops. Seriously the smell is amazing on this one. The flavor fits the smell nicely. Rich dark malt tones meld with the slightly fruity but mostly spicy yeast and a floral and surprisingly zippy bitter hop backing. Surprisingly good. I think the malt in this one totally outshines its counterpart.

Aroma: Smelling of dust, sour milk, spices and yeast.
Appearance: A clear amber colored beer. An off-white head with some lacing and good curtains.
Taste: Tasting brown bread, spices, clove and yeast.
Palate: Medium high carbonation, a soft texture. A medium body with a coarse dry finish.
Overall: A bit young and raw.
Note: Bottle 330 ml at Monks. Reviewed 2013-02-27.
