Aangenaam donker biertje dat iedereen wel zal lusten maar dat geen uitwisbare indruk achterlaat

11.2 oz bottle, 2014 vintage, batch 3. Aroma is banana, pepper, wheat cracker, mild burnt toast, alcohol, funky. Pours hazy amber with some sediment floating around underneath a large orangeish-white head with decent retention. Taste is sweet, biscuity, savory, a little tart, some bitterness in the finish. Foamy mouthfeel, medium body, dry hoppy bitter finish. Interesting; definitely unlike any other Trappist beer I’ve had.

330 mL bottle, brewed 03/2013. Pours a hazed caramel color with lots of fine particles and a large cream-colored head. Ripe grape/raisin aroma, caramel, apple. Flavor has fruity apple and green grape, yeasty honey biscuit, with some dusty oxidation. Even with the oxidation it’s still a nice beer.

Good foam, orange color. Has a bit of tart feeling yeasts in the aroma, but in a weird way. The taste is sweet and tart, but also weird. Seems like it’s not well-balanced at all. A bit of an unstructured mess in there. At first I thought it’s okay, just not really good. But this actually gets worse with every sip. Should try a second bottle, maybe this one was badly stored...

330ml bottle served in a chalice. Best before 24.04.2015 batch most probably bottled in 2013 (maybe end of 2012) A: Pours a dark orange color forming a big, fluffy and creamy light yellow head. Medium to low retention and lots of lingering and molasses lacings formed and left in the glass. A thin layer of bubbles remains forever on the top S: Very fruity and spicy. Strong notes of orange peel and honey. Quite peppery too. Caramel malts, vanille and candy sugar. Great flowery hops in the very end T: Slightly sweet upfront. Very spicy, fruity and peppery. Strong notes of pamplemousse, orange zest, honey, vanille, black pepper, flowery hops, caramel and crystal malts. Bready yeasts profile M: Medium body. Good carbonation. Slightly sweet and spicy aftertaste O: Good drinkability. Nice Saison. Better than the Gregorius one [ BA Review @ 10/21/2013 ]

Benno has a thin, white head of foam, an opaque, orange-gold appearance, some bubble streams, and a bit of lacing left behind. The aroma is of honey, for sure, with some rich grain husk and sourdough bread. The flavor is of honey (which fades), sweet & sour sauce, sourdough bread, and relatively low bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy and prickly, and Benno finishes semi-dry and pretty drinkable. RJT

Slight sweetness on the nose with fruit and slight spice. Definite yeastyness to the nose. Very hazy with small, tight bubbles. Flavor is slightly phenolic, but that could just be from improper storage. Bready on the tounge with spice brushing sides. No real hop notes and not really enough yeast for my taste for a trappist. Still, very drinkable.

Bottled, not sure where it got it from. Cloudy brown colored, thick lasting off-white head, beautiful. Malty nose, fruit (apple), Belgian yeast, caramel, some spices (nutmeg, cardemom). Malty flavor, apple again, surprisingly sour, some spices, yeasty notes. Initially sour, later on more bittersweet finish. Remarkable combination of flavors, certainly original. But i somehow doubt that especially the pretty intense sourness is fully intentional...

Rousse orangé, haut col de mousse beige. Nez levuré, abricot, banane, raisin blanc, miel. Bouche fruitée, banane, raisin, levure sauvage. Légère acide, un peu sucrée. Finale amère sèche. Forte carbonation. Une trappiste qui sort des sentiers battus de ses consoeurs belges. Interessant.
