Pours orange/amber, small head. Smells yeasty, and a bit vinegary. Tastes malty and sweet, with a huge yeast presence. Spices, mild sweet citrus, bread, bit of salt. Finishes slowly, with sweet spiciness and pepper.

0,33 l bottle from P&M Getränke, bottled on 26/8/2014 (almost a year old). Clear, medium amber with a huge, very fine pored and creamy, almost stable, tan head. Sweetish-malty aroma of caramel, honey, chestnut and a bit of cane sugar. Sweetish-malty taste of cane sugar, caramel, honey and chestnut, followed by a long, medium bitter, slightly peppery, alcoholic and warming finish. Medium body, creamy and effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Solid Belgian Ale with an impressive hoppy punch but at the same time lacking excitement in aroma and taste. Despite its nice mouthfeel, it isn’t that quaffable due to the notable alcohol in the finish. Clearly the worst of the three Austrian trappists for me.

Bottle pour at GJBF Osaka 2015. Superb rich malty nose, fruit, berries, small yeast bite. Big fruity initial, sweet candi sugar (but it’s honey), dark fruit, with some sour tang, and a quick change to severe bitterness in finish. Fresh and flavorful. Wow!

Bottle at Koht in Tallinn (€ 8). BB 24.04.16. Dark, slightly brownish amber colour with lots of floaties. Head’s very persistent. Quirky on the nose - wouldn’t have guessed it to be honey, but indeed it’s got a certain sweet flowery aroma that I’d associate with some types of honey. It’s also kind of pungent, kind of farmhouse. Very fckn difficult to describe... Tastes very sweet with some sour notes and faint bitterness. Fruity. Faint spiciness. The honey’s definitely there. Medium body, near crisp carbonation. Dryish on the palate. Some alcohol detectable. I’m not so sure about this one. Certainly interesting, that’s for sure.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy off-white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a very softly carbonated hazy brown orange colored body. The mild aroma was malty. The mildly vinous mouth feel was tingly at the start with a mediumly tingly finish with a lingering vinous aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of bitter old ale mildly vinous and brown malt. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

the aroma is malty and fruity with shades of spicy grasses, pimento and berries... the taste is malty and fruity with notes of cherry, black currant, spicy herbs and some tropical fruits... hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste, which is sweet, bitter and dry...

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear amber with a medium frotty off-white head and an aroma of alcohol, roasted malts, cherries, dried fruits and yeast. The taste is slightly to medium sweet, with more complex notes and some bitter and sour notes in the finish. Pretty nice brew.
