330ml bottle bought quite a while ago at Barley Wine in Copenhagen. Stable fawn-coloured head. Opaque red-brown body colour. Minimal lacing. Mid-sweet aroma of dried fruits. Plums, honey and prunes to the taste buds. Fine bodied, but overly sweet. Flat and rather disappointing (shared with djoeye and Finn, Tromsø 05.08.2014).

Opaque dark brown, weak head, some yeast. Smell is pears, apples and caramel. Some sourwood. Subtle wood and chocolate. Taste is fizzy salty sweetness. Subtly sour. Chocolate dominates with subtle alcohol. Dry oily finish.

The first trappist beer outside of the Low Countries if you don’t count the ’semi-trappist’ Mont des Cats, since 2011. Off-white, coarse head, hazy bronze-brown colour with burgundy hue. Sweet fruits in the aroma, candied cherries, banana, chocolate, leather, mocca, caramel; taste likewise begins with sweet candied fruits, hint of candi sugar, banana, figues, honey sweetness clearly noticeable, chocolatey and caramelly malts, well-rounded, grassy hops in the finish as well as warming, Schnapps-like alcohol, but fortunately not too astringent. I don’t think this beer comes even close to the world class of the great Belgian trappists, but it is a very decent beer nonetheless, albeit a tad too sweet for my taste.

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2014 Pours a hazy dark brown body with a thin head. Very nice aroma of burnt sugar. Nice and rich malty taste with tones of candy and bread. A winner! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From bottle labeled June 2013. Deep amber brown color. Aroma is cherry liqueur, brown sugar, and caramel chocolates. Taste is similar, with some added dark chocolate, honey, and oak notes. Just a tiny bit astringent on the finish, which keeps it from being a higher rating, but overall really enjoy the complex flavor and nice warming effect.

Pours deep dark brown with small beige head. Aroma of prunes, raisins, honey, caramel. Taste is dark fruit, vanilla, candied sugar, very nice bitterness. For an almost 10% honey-sweetened Quad this is surprisingly refreshing! Very nice worthwhile addition to the Trappist family.

Brown colored beer with large brownish head and lots of carbonation. Floks of yeast poored in. Nicy fruity hopped malty aroma. Full sparkling palate. Finish is malty fruited with some roasted, sour and metallic hints.

33cl bottle (abv 9.7% BB260914) kindly provided by Rune; light beige falling hood, brown brown red hazy muddy body, crocheted lacings. Old milk room aroma, sour-cream, old cocoa. Taste; choco-milky prunes, sourish chocolate. Sticky on palate. Sweet sour old-milky finish. Odd. [Pleasant rating session 5.aug.@Finns place]

Alkoholen godt kamuflert.
