33cl bottle from Sebilinz, many thanks! Rating nr #4000.
Poured dee brown with a thick off white head. Brown sugar aroma, almonds, dried fruits. Flavor has caramelized sugar, yeast, dark bready notes. Long sweet finish with some dried fruity notes. High carbonation. Hides the ABV nicely, hence the sweetness.

330ml bottle. Best before 21.01.17. Pours a murky dark caramel with a thin, creamy head that thins to a bubbly ring. Aroma had big, rich aromas of caramel, raisins, dark fruits, cherries, spice, bread, and a touch of woody honey. Taste is a touch sweet with notes of woodiness, caramel, dark fruits, spice, yeast, and a drawn out, slightly tart ending and a touch of alcohol warmth. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Slightly syrupy mouth feel with a fine carbonation and dry finish. Overall a nice beer. Dark fruits, caramel, bread, spice, yeast, wood, and slightly tart cherries.

Cloudy dark brown pour, with a dark beige head. Incredibly malty aroma, with loads of dark boozy fruit. Figs, apples, pears, and dark sticky molasses dominate. The mouth feel is thick and luscious, and the carb is soft. The finish is lightly bitter with some subtle spices and a boat load of sweet, sticky malts.

pours a deep amber brown and a beautiful beige creamy head. Aroma is of dried fruits and christmas spices. also spirits. taste is sweet, dried fruity and a liquorice gentle retronasal. spiced hops with an alcoholic halo as a potent beer. perhaps a bit obvious the cognac aftertaste. Excellent quadrupel.

Bottle. Dark reddish brown with nice light brown head, looks great except there’s a lot of weird things floating around here, like pulp in orange juice (and I poured very carefully). Chocolate, honey, light ash, quite some herbs, light bitter fresh green vegetables, dry spices. Quite sweet with dry herbal finish. Full bodied with nice carbonation. Wow, this really is all over the place. The aroma and taste are a lot like how it looks: very good at first, but then you also notice some things that really don’t work at all. Has potential but now it’s not really my thing.

330ml bottle from LCBO, Parkway Mall, Scarborough, ON. Alc./Vol. Pours a murky brown colour with a small off-white head. Complex aroma with notes of yeast, caramel, and plum. Very complex taste hits you in the face first. In the beginning it’s full-bodied, sweet and fruity with an oily texture. In the middle I began to taste the high alcohol content which was quickly washed away by the spicy and hoppy finish. Lively carbonation. To me Gregorius is basically just a more complex version of St. Bernardus 12.

Pours dark brown fluffy tan head. Aroma has lots of dark fruit and some solvent. Very rich malt flavor, raisins , plums , figs some soy sauce. There’s some definite solvent coming through on the end. Medium body medium carb, not in the best shape.

330 ml bottle from LCBO, served cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Very deep mahogany with a full copper-tan foam. Aroma: Rich maltiness...dark dried fruits, dark bread crust, a bit of treacle, sweet with a light underlying tang that might be infection, cherries and other “fresher” fruitiness, brown sugar, another hit of infected tang/nastiness. Palate: Medium+ body, full carbonation. Flav.: Richly malty and boozy, lightly infected with some tang and a little burnt nut nastiness, cherries, dark dried fruits, brown sugar, generally quite lovely; sweet with low bitterness and a richly malty finish with lots of prunes and other dark dried fruits, a bit of booze and a hint of tang.

Like the other bottle I had, there is something “alive” in this beer that isn’t entirely good. Overall, a nice beer. “Dark Tripel”....interesting.
