Bottle 33cl. Dark ruby with a medium light brown head that fades. Aroma has fruits but there’s also coffee and honey. The taste is beautiful: a mild bitterness welcomes you, but then a bouquet of sweetness, fruits and coffee flows your mouth. Great stuff!

It poured a tan color with a small tan head. The aroma was of prunes, strawberries, smoke, apples and some honey. The taste was of roasted barley, smoke, alcohol, dark fruits, raisins and candied sugar. Very nice.

I bought this as part of a gift pack that included Benno and the glass. Bottled in February 2014. It pours a hazy, no cloudy rusty brown with a huge head of foam that is great with the lacing. The smell has quite a bit of bitterness to it yet there’s a honey sweetness going on as well. Perhaps some molasses but more interestingly, I can smell some funky notes. The honey is the first thing I notice in the taste; quite sweet on my palate. The bitterness I noted in the smell is very citrus like in the taste and the the curious funk smell...I get that too. A very complicated beer here, I reckon. Full bodied, medium carbonation. This is most definitely a "weird" brew and I reckon a very polarizing one. Put me in the camp that likes it.

Bottle@post office vaults, birmingham. Slightly murky brown beer with small head. Aroma of treacle, toffee and caramel. Taste is raisins, plums, dark malts and some greeness to it. Palate is medium bodied and lightly carbonated. Very good.

Aroma of red and purple fruits, honey, and yeast. Acid forward flavor involving the aforementioned elements in the aroma. Booze well hidden. Good trappist beer.

33 cl. thanks to Gem. Pours opaque ebony with a lasting disc of foam. Nose is smoked meat, blackberry, honey, apple, dates and blackstrap molasses. Tastes of tart berry, semi-sweet chocolate, raisin, biscuit, espresso with cream, soy, a touch of smoky hickory, apple, vanilla, charred wood, red wine and more. Medium-heavy body is smooth with a medium carbonation and shows just a nice touch of the abv. Wow a smoked Trappist tripel/quad/stout! This is definitely a style buster and also a very nice dessert beer.
