Bottled. A murky dark brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, and yeast. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, alcohol, bread, yeast, and candy sugar, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a cloudy opaque brown with an off-white head. Rustic, roasty phenollic aroma. Rich body, chewy, roasty, rustic, nutty malts. Herbal and spicy too. Distinctly Belgian yeast. Some late heat and a surprising bitterness. A different but decent Trappist interpretation. 160912

Very dark brown beer. Few tan bubbles for a head. Palate is slightly soft and dry, Mild carbonation. Rich molasses with marmite as well. A splash of Coca Cola/Dr Pepper. Mild malt cream and subtle bubblegum ester. Semi dry finish. Not bad, a bit heavy on the molasses, but overall tasty.

Beautiful dark mahogany color with ruby hue; medium sized head, not very persistent. Mild aroma, with caramel, light wood, and a fruity impression (prunes). Good body strength; good caramel flavor, with candi sugar, wood, impression of sweet liquorice, light spices; moderate bitterness too; the alcohol is just a warm feeling.
Quite good, the profile is similar to a Rochefort but not as complex; also a bit more aged than the previous time I had it, and better.

Cloudy brown color, the head disappears quickly. The aroma of roasted malt is a bit dusty and phenolic. Good body strength; pleasant caramel and roasted malt, chestnut honey; medium sweetness.
Good, midway between a Strong Ale and a Doppelbock; it needs some maturation, and less carbonation.
