Pours with large head that rises above glass rim and stays. Aroma is very pleasant with hint of honey. Head has metallic taste. Beer itself has a hoppy flavor with a sweet finish. Has a bit of a scotch-like taste without the harshness. A very good beer.

Has nice notes of brown sugars, yeasts, spices, etc but has an oddly metallic taste to it. Not sure if I just got a bad bottle or not but it marred my enjoyment of this beer.

Pours cloudy brown with one finger of creamy dense light beige head, excellent retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Nose is dark malt, dark fruit, vinous and oaky. (7/10) Taste is moderate to strong sweet, mild bitter, very slight sour. (7/10) Medium to full body, moderate carbonation, warming mild bitter finish. (4/5) Pleasant quad - lots of dark fruit and vinous notes, subtle warming from a near-double-digits ABV. Nothing spectacular (it is Austrian, after all, and not Belgian) but a decent enough trappist. (14/20)

Sorry ...

Butelka, warka do 18.06.16. Sredniej wysokosci piana ecru, syczaca i blyskawicznie znikajaca. Piwo Brunatno-miedziano-brazowe, niemal nieprzezroczyste, plywajace niestety w duzych ilosciach drozdze.

Reddish brown with flocculling yeasts, almost no head. Faint aroma of wood. Taste is quite dry and roasted, with notes of caramelized malts. Full body, smooth texture.

Bottle - 330ml. Cloudy brown body with a good beige/rusty foamy head. Good, well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with fruity, vineous, and oaky hints. Alcohol is subtle. Its well balanced malty/hoppy taste carries fruity, yeasty, abd oaky notes. Ends with a long, moderately warming, bittersweet finish. Good stuff.

Bottle shared at Leightons pad. Thanks to Daniel for this one. Light hazed reddy / copper coloured pour with a thin off white HEAD. Aroma is nutty, apple, caramel, raisin dried fruits, orange peel and sweet fig. Flavour is composed of tangy orange peel, caramel, raisin, dried fruits, pretty smooth. Palate is semi sweet, moderate carbonation, tangy in the finish. Full and warming alcohol. Pretty smooth and drinkable.

Bottle shared at Leighton’s, 9.7% bottled Feb 2014. Rating #666 for this beer. Reddy brown, lightly sparkling, small ring of tan head. Aroma is strong malt, red berry, a little strawberry, oxidation. Body is medium, slightly foamy, tingly carbonation. Taste is sweet and malt-forward, toffee, salty finish with no real bitterness. OK.
