Very dry and a lot of glutamaat so a full body beer. It does not linked direct to the Trappist beers we are used to but only the authentic Trappist beer logo makes this beer worth tasting. The expectation was in my tasting a bit to high. Anyhow a nice beer with a great marketing element that is Trappist. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone By Belleketels

Bottle from CBX. Murky mahogany pour with a frothy with tan head. Nose presents roasted nuts, baked bread, caramel and toffee, brandied plums along with Belgian yeast and candi sugars. Flavor is fairly similar with hints of spice coming through in the ending. Lively carbonation and some alcohol. Not a big fan of the style but this is pleasant.

tap at Three Fires - Pours dark amber with a minimal head. The aroma is of honey, dark fruit, caramel malt, and alcohol. It tastes of sweet caramel malt and dark fruit with the alcohol mostly buried. Full bodied and smooth going down, this is a tasty beer.

This draft brew from a restaurant poured a extremely small sized head of foamy finely sized light brown colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a semi-opaque brown colored with no visible carbonation body and a good lacing. The weak aroma was of brown malt. The mildly vinous mouth feel was tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish with a strong vinous aftertaste. The tasty flavor contained notes of semi-sweet maple, old ale vinous, mild spice, brown malt and hops. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.

I had very few foam on the beer and it dissapeared within seconds. Very heavy body, in my opinion it is a good beer but does not come close to any of its Belgian or single Dutch Trappist brothers.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2014 Bottle from Blue Max. Deep dense looking cola - brown pour with a frothy head. Aroma is dark fruit, prune, yeast, and something pretty sweet. Taste is similar. Moderate palate. Solid.

Pours a dark mahogany with a tan head; tobacco and espresso on the nose; chalky mouth feel to the palate; dry. Tastes like a stout vice a quad. Not my favorite.

From bottle in La Trappe glass, very nice appearance, with a very dark/black colour and humble white head. Smells like honey and apple syrup. Sometimes creamy tasting bittersweet with honey and dark bitter chocolate that confuces me sometimes. Very surprising new trappist that adds a unique item.

Aroma is rich sweet malts, honey, caramel, plum, raisins and brown sugar. Taste is sweet maltiness with some slight roastiness. Dark fruits, apple and Belgian sugars are here alongside some yeastiness.Finishes with some warm alcohol mouth feel. The appearance is an amber/brown with a beige /brown head that retains fairly poorly. Slight fruity sediment present.
