4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Had this on tap at the Lions Pride, very unique Trappist ale. A lot more hops than any I had before, and this one had a roast note to it. I even got a coffee note in the flavor. I didn’t get the typical aggressive dark fruit note in this brew. I like it

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Murky brown pour, brief head. The nose smells of deep dark fruit bathed in dark malts. Sweet. The middle continues the role of sweet concentrated fruit; currants, raisins, and plums. The finish is like a nice Sherry.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
HOME 20160709: 33 cl bottle, 9.7% ABV, BBF 06.08.16: A slightly cloudy beer with a rubbish-red colour and a good dark brown foam layer. The smell is sweet (candy sugar-like), dark malt, caramel, some chocolate and malt bitterness. A sweet taste with dark malt and candy sugar. Alcoholic. Also fruit (raisins) and red wine/port. In the finish a malty bitterness is coming up, which give the beer a chocolate finish. The palate is in this way sticky sweet and slightly malty bitter dry. Complex aroma and taste. Maybe because the beer is near the best before. Nice.

A bottle from Privado, near Gu Ting subway station, drunk at home. I was a little wary of this one because of the honey in the recipe. However, it was not too sweet in any way and I really enjoyed it. A good, solid Trappist which I would gladly drink again [old notes].

Nez viandeux. Bouche sur le chocolat au lait mais pas trop écœurante. Finale amère et herbacée. Bonne bière. Développement un peu en retrait.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
It pours very deep brown with a dense tan head. The aroma has thick bread, toffee, Abbey yeast, dark caramel, candy sugar and smooth toasted malt. It has a pretty thick body with a light amount of carbonation. The taste has dried bread, figs, molasses candy swimmers and caramel. The finish shows some alcohol, but it’s warming and gentle. Pretty nice.
