3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Tria in Philly. Very dark with a tan head and strong lacing. Flavor of dark fruits, especially in the finish, along with coffee and hints I smoked meat - like bacon. Very solid enjoyable beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
The last of the European Trappists I still had to try. Quite good but not the best Trappist. But hey...there is some stong competition. It is a dark double and a tripple in one. Nice dark brown with a good head and modest carbonation. The 10% is well hidden. Flavor has a nice sour element and burned malts, coffee and dried fruits. Interesting.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Opaque dark brown color, 1/4" tan head, spots of lace. Taste is strong bitter malt that has dark fruit and alcohol in it pretty much from the outset. The finish shows little change, creating a quadrupel that lacks complexity. A big heavy brew, that loses me before I’ve finished half of it.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: AUG 27, 2014 Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with an enormous foamy tan head that lingered forever and left good lacing. The aroma was malty toffee, raisin, cherry, wood and bread. The flavor was malty and sweet with very strong dark fruits - cherry, fig, raisin - with anise, tobacco and a moderate alcohol presence. Wonderfully full and complex flavors that come in waves. Long finish. Outstanding.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Location: .33 liter bottle from Sparrow, 8/23/14
Aroma: The aroma is fairly sweet, some dark fruit/raisin, molasses, and a bit of toffee
Appearance: It pours a murky brownish color, with a small tan colored head
Flavor: The taste is sweet and rich, heavy malty and fruity, with a long fruity finish
Palate: The body is medium-full, fairly sticky, with a rich feel, and a soft-to-average carbonation
Overall, this is a solid quad, but it could use a hint of balance. It is very sweet and rich. Certainly not something I’d want to drink more than one of in a row.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear dark brown colour with decent carbonation.
As soon as you poor it, a strong sweet raisin like aroma hits the nose.
Some floral and fruity notes there.
Taste is much more elegant, nice sweet flavour with some bitter and sour notes. Goes down smooth, medium bodied with a touch of alcohol.

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer & Beyond, Tel Aviv. Clear brown with low quickly diminishing brownish head. Aroma of bacon, meat, smoked, woody, pickles, sausage, sweetish, alcoholic. Very sweet flavor, woody, honey, syrup, date honey, fruity, notes of cherry, malty, a bit cheesy. Very alcoholic. Full body. Very sweet sticky liqueur aftertaste.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
330ml bottle into a goblet.
Pours a hazy very dark brown with a fluffy light tan head that doesn’t stick around for a very long time. There is a lack of lacing as well.
Aroma is almost like cherry juice. Smells strongly of dark fruit with some caramel and molasses. Not bad but seems a bit sweet.
The flavor hits very hard with the cherry and plum. It is very fruity with the sweetness to go along with it unfortunately. Caramel and honey comes in later with a quick shot of wood and alcohol. Sweetness lingers through the finish with alcoholic warmth.
Overall, this beer is just not that refined and complex. It is actually somewhat disappointing for a Trappist beer. Nothing to go out of your way for.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
330ml bottle bought quite a while ago at Barley Wine in Copenhagen. Stable fawn-coloured head. Opaque red-brown body colour. Minimal lacing. Mid-sweet aroma of dried fruits. Plums, honey and prunes to the taste buds. Fine bodied, but overly sweet. Flat and rather disappointing (shared with djoeye and Finn, Tromsø 05.08.2014).

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Opaque dark brown, weak head, some yeast.
Smell is pears, apples and caramel. Some sourwood. Subtle wood and chocolate.
Taste is fizzy salty sweetness. Subtly sour. Chocolate dominates with subtle alcohol. Dry oily finish.
