Didn’t strike me as an IIPA, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Nice hoppy aroma, floral notes and grapefruit and prevalent with a soft underlying bready malt notes. Pours light hazy golden with a thin lasting head and great lacing. Mostly hop forward notes of perfume and citrus. Touch of soft malt sweetness. Long lingering dryness, almost very refreshing.

This is a very nice try, but a tremendous failure as far as I am concerned when it comes to this style. I realize the tendency is to reach for the sky and bigger is better, but al so is balance, and this is so over the top when it comes to the hops that it is almost hard to drink, because even though the aroma matches the flavor, that aspect is balanced, but there is such a light balance of malt to back up that resiny hoppiness, it makes the beer so bitter because of the wrong choice in hops varietals for what they were trying to make. So overall that makes this a very imbalanced beer in so many aspects that far outweigh the positives. Next please...

Typical amber body with an off-white head. Aroma is hoppy and so is the flavour. However, this hops with little malt balance. Rather bitter throughout.

Before this last year I hadn't had too many annihilatingly bitter beers, but as imperial IPAs and double dry-hopped IPAs are making successful appearances across the U.S. more and more breweries are making their own high IBU beers. This imperial pale ale is one of those that failed miserably, trying not to produce a huge amount of flavor, but rather a huge amount of sensation. In other words, this beer smells of hops, but the fact my tongue is constantly seeking refuge in the back of my skull makes it rather hard to taste them. This Imperial craze needs to end. No America...bigger is not always better.
