(12 oz bottle: Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA) This simple, mild-flavored brown ale features a sweet, sugary, caramely maltiness, and very gentle roast, and in fact it’s more toasty than roasty. Bitterness is pretty light. I’m getting a fair amount of diacetyl in this one too. The label says this is full-bodied beer, but I beg to differ; I’d call this medium bodied. Caramel and toasty malts in the nose. Medium brown in color and very clear. The light tan head doesn’t rise more than half an inch on the pour, and then it fades off toa small ring before too long. Overall, not a beer that impresses me all that much, but it’s tasty enough to be a fine quaffer.

On tap at English Ales, Marina, CA. Not much aroma; faint malts. Dry mild hoppy brown with sweet malts coming through. Hints of honey. Medium body, lively carbonation. Good brown! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a nice brown color. Nice head that laces the glass. The flavor is nice and malty, caramel, a hint of grain. Would prefer a little more body. Nice beer.

12oz bottle. Pours brown with almost no tan head. Slight aroma of roast malt, taste of lightly roast malt. Minimal after taste. Nice sessioner, unremarkable.

Sampled on tap at Phils Fish Market in Moss Landing. A pretty nice brew. Sweet maltiness. It was very clean and crisp.

Good nutty character. This beer pours a reddish cola color, quite clear, with little head. The nose is all specialty malt. I’m trying to come up with better descriptors, but this one is all nuts for me. It’s a good nuttiness but a little one-note ultimately. That said, I like nutty brown ales, so I’m really not disappointed. The flavor is a bit too sweet. There’s some sugary malt that gets a bit in the way. Mouthfeel is probably better from a cask but it’s still not bad from the bottle - slippery but clean. This is a nice session beer, and it’s always good to see more nearby breweries dabbling in English styles.

On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown with small white head, nose of roasted malts. Serve a little too cold, but had good carbonation. I’m thinking this would be much better as it warms up.

Draught at the brewpub. Brown with a small head. Lightly burn toasted bread and light hops in the aroma. Sweet, toffeeish malt flavors with a dry, lightly roasted finish. Light bodied with medium carbonation. A decent brown, but nothing to write home about.
