Sampled on tap in Carmel. A decent Scotch ale. Heavily malted brew that is nice on the palate with a bit of an aftertaste.

Not Scottish ale like. Nutty warm toffee flair. Maybe a hint of booze. Tasty balanced. I liked it.

Draft at the Brewery The bartender said this was their most popular beer. The ale pours clear gold with a white head and lacing. The aroma is of toast with a touch of caramel. The taste of peppermint was also noted. The medium body ale had average carbonation. The finish was clean with a dry mouthfeel.

As ’Fat Lip Amber Ale’@ Crab Louie’s, Monterey, CA, 29/08/12. Thin-haloed bronze. Boiled orange sweet, hint of hay aroma. Digestive biscuit, caramel and boiled sweet hints. OK but pretty dull and watery: Dungeness crab-beater.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle at Crab Louie's in Monterey, CA. Clear, amber orange with small, white head that disappeared quickly and fair lacing. Aroma of amber malt with a touch of orange. Taste starts with a bitter, citric malt flavor followed by a malty flavors through the finish. Medium to light body and average carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
