Bottle from Middle Farm Nr Lewes. Dark brown with some ruby. Oaky with some lighter roast components. In the mouth a fruity acidity becomes apparent. Oakiness dominates throughout. Not too bad.

Bottle from Beermerchants.com.Pours dark amber with a moderate sized beige head. Aroma of dark red fruits,toffee and coffee. Taste is dark chocolate, very bitter, almost astringent coffee, ends fruity bitter. Medium bodied.

Dark brown and clean body and creamy beige head. Toast, chocolate, caramel, rye grains. Dry but light body and taste, Fairly carbonated. Not very rich, even for the abv. Lacks behind the aroma. Disappointing to be honest. (33cl bottle)

Bottle at Real Man Pizzeria, Clerkenwell, London on 6th January 2012. Dark ruby with thin off-white head. Fruity, spicy aroma, then very fruity and spicy in mouth with berry fruits and touches of chocolate. A citric but delicate tang on the tongue. Fresh fruit and roast malts in an aftertaste that’s both rewarding and refreshing with herby bitterness developing. Medium body and zingy mouthfeel. A good bottle.

Bottle as Curious Porter. Black with a beige foam. Aromas are cocoa and coffee with oily aspects and blackberry. Smoky and earthy with vanilla and hints of marzipan. Flavours are light coffee with bittersweet dark chocolate. Blackberry with marzipan and floral aspects. Dry on the finish.

Bottle from the Bitter End Offie, Bromley. Black pour with a light beige head. Coffee and chocolate aroma with a little smoke. Barely noticeable licorice and coffee flavours. Dry, light bitter finish. Love the description on the label, nothing like the contents inside unfortunately. Perhaps It’s because I foolishly neglected to drink it from a ’low goblet’ yes, that’ll be it, silly me.

Bottle from Waitrose and labelled as just ’Curious Porter’ and shared with my dad at home, consumed 08.12.11 Pours dark brwon with a head that I didn’t notice as it swiftly departed. Fruity and a touch toasty and roasty, malty and whilst not bad it is also nothing special. A6 A4 A6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Badged as just "Curious Porter" from Waitrose. Black with the aroma of roasted malt. Some sweet roasted malt notes, hint of coco powder, quite smooth, hint of buzz on the tongue. It’s okay.

Bottle conditioned, as Curious Porter, from Waitrose Willoughby. Deep red-black, thin but lasting off white head and low condition. Gentle coffee aromas with a low fruitiness and some roasted barley notes as it warms, quite dry in the mouth with the roasted barley notes dominating although there is a persistent fruity sweetness lingering, finish is again roasted but with some muted chocolate powder noticable.

33 cl bottle, Sheffield, UK via Waitrose. Deep brown, chocolate licorice aroma. Mild flavour, a bit watery, some celery and roasted malt on the finish.

(bottled) Not bad ,not bad . A mild mannered Porter. All the customary textures. Rich , roasty , choco =with licorice. Textured ,plesant.
