From a bottle. A nice cloudy golden body with a white head that seemed to have good retention and great lace. Aroma had a nice mix of yeast and hops. Nice doughy and estery notes a little bit of banana. Hops seemed to have a blend of floral, grapefruit and a mild bit of pine. Flavor seemed to have great balance with hops and yeast, malts seemed slightly toasted and they took a back seat to the other flavors. Nice in the finish.

750ml, batch 15, bottle pours a hazy orange with some clumpy, lacing white head. Nose has a fair amount of soap, orange peel, some dusty hay, a little old couch. Flavor is soapy, astringent citrus peel, straw, a little herbal tea. Tannic, astringent finish.

750 ml bottle. Poured a hazy yellow/gold with a bubbly 2 finger head that doesn’t want to settle down for a while. Funky aroma with a lot going on. You got typical IPA scents of citrus and grass, then some yeast, then some nice barnyard funk. Flavor is fruity, but not really citrus, more like white fruits. Pears and apples. Some lemon zest in here too. Secondary spice, white pepper? Still with some funkiness. Light bodied with aggressive carbonation. Easy to drink and fun.

1 pt. 9.4 fl. oz. bottle. Batch #15. Rustic white nose feel. Light and grassy. Tight. Nice.

Bottle at THOB share. Pours pale yellow gold with a white head. Aromas of wheat and citrus. Flavor is spicy, citric hop, belgian yeast. Grassy bitter hop finish. Not a great combination of flavors.

Rastacouere (6130) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 13, 2014
Phenolic (clove, bubblegum, smoke, green pepper) ale with a strong green grassy hop kick that does not feel particularly fresh (batch #14 bought in Boston 5 weeks ago) and a strong pear-like aroma. Rather juicy, but kept a bit tense rather than fluidly expressive, in large part due to the grassy, resinous, woodsy hop character having the flavour profile of a Fuggle amped up with American resinous brashness. I can’t say the result screams balance at my ears, nor at my palate. The appearance (cloudy golden ale with a generous white collar) and mouthfeel (yeasty, large-bubbled, fairly dry) were otherwise pleasant.

Yeasty and grassy hops dominate the aroma. Vague fruit peel impressions also. Cloudy wheat ale appearance. Sharp bitter, spicy hop taste, and just enough funk to be ’farmhouse.’ Like the white IPA’s you see today, not really a saison. Crisp and biting, very yeast and hop forward. Consumed brand new I should mention, so it probably cools off a tad.

bottle. consumed ~ 1 month after hitting store shelves. whole lot of slightly over-ripened pear offered. touch of honeydew. pineapple. floral hibiscus notes offered. preferred enlightenment ales transcendence and day trip to this beer. hops seemed to shine more in those brews without the heavy dose of melon and pear. good though. but will return to other enlightenment saisons before this one.

Bottle. Nothing really stood out about this for me. Its a decent beer, not offensive but pretty bland.

Bottle shared at the Hoff’s tasting. Pours a hazy pale gold with a soft soapy white head that settles to a thin spotty film. Aroma has yeast some white pepper and floral and soft citrus scents. Taste has a spice and bread/yeast some mild citrus and lemongrass. Palate is thin fizzy and drying. Enjoyable.
