Cask at the Robin Hood, Amblecote. Pours very light gold with a medium head. Aroma is sulphur and soapy ginger. Taste starts some subtle ginger and a soapy ginger finish. A lot better when it’s 30 degrees outside.

Cask, gravity at Banbury Beer Festival 06-05-10 Pours warm gold, nose is very gingery. Sweet in mouth, ginger very much to the forefront, in fact this is all its about, fine but one would be enough for me. A6 A4 F6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Cask at the Smithfield, Derby. Amber with a ring of white head; ginger aroma (as expected); light ginger flavour supported by sweet malts; then a dry finish. Does exactly what it says on the pump clip - but nothing more.l

Cask, King and Castle, Kidderminster. I love the fact that these kind of beers can provoke such a varied reaction. A superb, exceptionally pale yellow ale, with the balance of ginger just right. Soft, loads of flavour, a hint of brown sugar and very refreshing. When ginger beers are done properly, like this one, they are superb and this is one of the best examples I’ve had for a long time.

Cask @ Bon Accord. Clear golden colour, medium dense off-white head. Ginger is actually overpowering in aroma and flavour. Aroma is soapy. Taste is ginger, soapy and alkalic. Not my taste.

Gravity at Wolverhampton Beer Festival 2008. Straw coloured with no head. My notes say it looks like urine. Scent of ginger and sulphur and some melon. Again quoting my notes, horrendously bland. A little bit of sugar but otherwise nothing except the ginger end. Not horrible, just nothing to it.

Cask, Hinckley Fest 08. Pale gold with a small head. Quite dull. Aromas are sweet and sugary with light grapefruit. Light ginger spices. Dry. Flavours are too sweet with dry ginger towards the finish. Sweet lemon. Not for me.

Cask@1st Hinckley Beer Festival, 2008. Pale golden beer with a very light and sweet aroma. The flavour is very sweet and syrupy. Overall an OK gentle ginger beer.
