Cask gravity at Reading BF 06. Black with dark beige head. Some good sourness on this and a bit oily in mouth. Bit sour, some liquorice, some ginger/spice. Quite nice. Dry/sour porter

Cask Stillage at the King’s Hall, Stoke on Trent 27/10/2006
Fruit and malt aromas. Black with some alcohol present. Sweet and rich on the palate. Slight metallic taste. Some dryness in a fruity bitter finish.

Cask Conditioned at Banbury Beer festival ’05. Deep black with bubbly tan head. Sweetish nose with a smokey note, the beer is a tasty mix of fruity and smokey, full and rich. A distinct blackberry note on the finish with a bark flavour. Lovely Jubbly.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at Sussex Beer Festival. Black as night with a thin tan head. Aroma is very sweet and topped up with cereal and some fresh unbrewed malt, very green. Flavour is better. In all hoesty this isn’t usually my thing, milky ceral and almost tea but not quite. Good malt, nice hops, well balanced, especially in the finish. Really tasty and interesting, even if my notes do make it sound crap. Much more old ale than porter by the way.

Cask (gravity dispense) at Reading Beer Festival, April 2006. Not that dark for a porter. Fruity but a bit thin. The malts are light and biscuity. Just a dab of liquorice. The flavours lacked something in depth and definition. OK but I’m sure it can be better than this. Tasted a bit tired to me.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Banbury BF. A black coloured porter with a sweet slightly hoppy aroma. The taste is excellent and reminded me of an American porter somewhat. It is very smooth and slightly sweet but there is plenty of charcoal and licquorice mixed in. My beer of the fest.

Cask at the Ealing beer fest. Rates start getting a bit special here. How can a scumbag like that get away with sandbagging a doctor of journalism! Overly roasty porter.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DruncanVeasey (5147) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - MAR 30, 2009
Cask, Cov 09. Pretty much pitch with an attractive but shortlived little yellowy attempt at a head. Raisiny fruitcake aroma. Thinnish, grainy, sweet and not especially roasty compared to some of the other delights on the menu. Even Octo said too sweet. Hints of liquorice and roast as it warms up. Too sugary for me, even with this bastard of a cold.
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Rune (4924) - Tromsø, NORWAY - MAR 20, 2008
Half on gravity at London Drinker BF 08, evening session. No head. Black body with ruby hints. The light aroma is predominantly sweet dark fruits and malt. A rather unusual taste for a porter with hop resin, dark fruits and notes of honey sweetness. Smooth bitter finish. Medium palate (12.03.2008).
3.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 SilkTork (4736) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, WALES - DEC 6, 2003
Gravity fresh @ Pig's Ear Festival, East London. Dark. Not much aroma, but a sexy mouthfeel. Soft chocolate. Delicious. Soft melting finish. Some vine fruits. A good 'un.
