1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 FatPhil (6210) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - DEC 29, 2007
UPDATED: JAN 27, 2008 NB - Envils is an importer, not a brewer. The UPC ’4740199’ corresponds to Estonia’s Nigula brewery, now brewed by Viru - this attribution needs correcting.
500ml bottle.
Pale lagery colour, pours with a lively head which fades. Lagery aroma - slightly sweet and grainy, but almost nothing. Taste is grassy (like hay, not hops), not as malty as I expected, and there’s something in the hoppiness which is making my mouth throb just a bit, like I smeared bengues balsam on it! Not a disaster, but will only really appeal to a tiny proportion of ale drinkers.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Tranquillity (1338) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - DEC 10, 2007
Clear yellow colour, thick even head, very bubbly. Muddy, earthy aroma. A bit metallic, not too strong taste.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 estpiwo (986) - ESTONIA - AUG 29, 2007
That beer is Estonian beer produced in Viru brewery for Latvian market. I bought it in Latvia. Beer is classical Viru beer with specific taste.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Jukkabro (3473) - Tampere, FINLAND - JUL 26, 2007
Light golden colored, little white head. Aroma is sweet with some corn and slight metal, not very pleasant aroma. Thin to medium bodied. Flavor is also sweet with maybe hints of hops, also this corny and lemony touch there in drying aftertaste.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 TBone (9414) - Pori, FINLAND - JUL 30, 2006
Bottled (BB 12/2006).
Pale yellow color, small white head. Sweetcorn aroma. Sweet corn flavors too. Malts, soft mouthfeel. Unclean feeling in this brew. Latvian lagers are clearly the lowest quality of 3 Baltic states.
