3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark brown with ruby highlights and a small tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, pumpkin, cinnamon. Taste of cocoa powder, more cinnamon and pumpkin, nutmeg, roasted malt, hints of molasses and cola. Finishes pretty dry. The squash flavor is subtle, and this beer is really dominated by the roasty dark chocolate and spice notes. Well done.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured into pint glass, forms one finger of light tan head than dissipates after several minutes. Aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg, and roasted malts. Taste is sweet. A pleasant combination of spice and pumpkin upfront. Transitions to flavors of toasted malt and chocolate. Moderate body and carbonation give it a pleasant mouthfeel, smooth finish. Does a good job of masking the alcohol. Overall, a drinkable and delicious pumpkin porter.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very deep copper, light brown, clear, tan head. Aroma of chocolate, bready Munichy-like malt, toffee, spices and pumpkin. Flavor is similar with spices more dominant. Medium-full body. Nice Halloween beer. This rating done on year-old bottle (release No. 5).

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours deep brown without much head, just a slight tan halo. Leaves moderate lacing. Taste is pumpkin pie spice and vanilla. Taste is marshmallows and fresh pumpkin. Not nearly the spice bomb the aroma would suggest, which is a great thing for me! Really love this beer.

Release #6. Nice cloudy brown with a beige head rhat leaves a little lacing. Aroma is pumpkin, ginger, cloves, figs, chocolate. Slightly spicy on the palate with some upfront maltiness followed by a slightly bitter and vegetal finish. Taste is pumpkin pie, chocolate, burnt sugar, vanilla. A little lacking in depth and a touch unbalanced.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark brown to black.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (cocoa powder, roasted grain), with a strong note of nutmeg/mace.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter.
Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic.
Very overspiced. Nutmeggy odor all virtually obliterates everything else (or what little else I could detect). Yikes. Easy, boys, you don’t need so much of that stuff! Too many cooks spoiled the broth? Flavor balance is not bad, a little sour though.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, and light ginger. It pours a dark brown with some orange highlights and a one finger tan head with decent retention. The flavor starts with moderate sweet chocolate and a touch of fruit. The finish has moderate-heavy cinnamon with lighter nutmeg and ginger. It’s medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, it’s tasty, but it seems more like a spiced Stout/Porter than a pumpkin beer.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Really excited about this beer- but somewhat dissappointing. Nose was not great. Flavors of roasted malts, distant chocolate, nuttiness. Some pumpkin upfront. Ended w/ an unpleasant vegetal/ medicinal note. Might be decent after aging a year? Not too enjoyable.
