COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed on: October 10, 2011. Packaged on October 25, 2011. Our first ever collaborative beer has all the familiar flavors of the season, but done with Epic style. To a base of strong, roasty, and chocolaty porter, we add 200 pounds of real pumpkin per batch, five spice and whole Madagascar vanilla beans. As you pour this deeply ruby brown beer, you’re greeted by the aroma of fresh cut squash, followed by rich chocolate. The flavor starts sweet with marshmallow, vanilla, and some pumpkin pie, then yields to a coffee roast and dark chocolate dryness. This beer is a great introduction for curious drinkers and a special holiday treat for fans of the style.

Bomber. Brown light beige head. Nice pumpkin spice with a bit of nutmeg, bit of vegetable, some malt, brown sugar. Moderate body and carbonation, not too sweet, malty and pumpkin, becomes dry.

A nice dark brown porter with a thin brown head. In aroma, a sweet chocolate with pumpkin spices. In mouth, a smooth chocolate malt with pumpkin spices, OK. On tap at Snallygaster DC, Oct. 13 2012.

Brown coloured body with little head. Just spice, perhaps a touch of pumpkin in the finish. Roasted coffee taste. Decent drinkability. Spiced out, pumpkined out.And the spices could have been better.Medium mouthfeel. Liam’s bottle.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with medium head. Aromas of pumpkin for sure with chocolate, vanilla, spices, maltiness. Taste is a rich chocolate, pumpkin, cinnamon, cloves. A different pumpkin beer as the malts were the hero here. Actually I think this is my first pumpkin porter. Great finishing palate.

22oz bottle via trade. Brown with a thick, foamy, light tan head. Aroma of ginger, cardamon, chocolate, pumpkin and brown bread. Flavor is doughy brown malt with some spices and light pumpkin. Medium body with average carbonation. Seems more like a brown ale base, but nice none the less.

Bottle: nice, dark ruby brown color with a small tan head. Rich, sweet chocolate aroma. Flavor is nice... All porter but twisted in there is the wonderful pumpkin pie spiciness. This is a nice beer, Very unique in a tasty way.

Pumpkin is a much better combination in a porter than in lighter styles, as the roasted, chocolate porter is a much better balancing force to the sometimes aching vegetal quality of the pumpkin. This beer comes across as extremely drinkable, with a moderate spiciness and moderate pumpkin pie flavor, but with a more dominant porter sensibility. It makes it interesting without being overwhelming. Reasonable palate, somewhat tingly without being fizzy. Very drinkable with little sense of its 8% abv. Bottle.
