1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
UPDATED: AUG 29, 2014 Bottle: Almost black with an ominous, deep ruby tone all around. Light tan head fades to a collar in moments. Aroma is light ginger, cinnamon, & clove, a mild pumpkin smell with some faint vanilla and a touch of wet cardboard, almost like oxidation? Taste is sweet, maybe a little too sweet. Some deep, dark prune & grape sweetness with a light bit of cocoa malt & pumpkin spice. Mild roast, finishing vanilla sweetness, & a slight touch of musty cardboard again. Hoped for a thicker mouth feel. Not the best.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Black pour with a thin light tan head. Aroma is like sweet dark cake mix but with a sweet not-too-cloy spiced pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing. Flavor brings out the spices a bit more, like nutmeg an cinnamon, but also some toasty pecan notes and a dark smokey sweetness alongside the pumpkin spice cake and cream cheese notes. Lovely!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 7.9% release #13 about 1600 yen from Hanshin’s CBB Seed event. Drunk from an Epic snifter courtesy of Asahiya. It pours a brownish black with a nice thick head of beige foam. The aroma is chocolate, vanilla & a bit of a vegetal note plus a dash of spices. Subtle but intriguing. The taste is full bodied, spicy with allspice, nutmeg & cinnamon the milk chocolate & a touch of coffee. A hint of squash in the finish. This is much much tastier than last year’s draft version I had. I am not sure if it is due to a batch difference or due to that beer being drunk from a pint glass. But in a snifter this rocks! A nice balance of spices & malts but not all that much pumpkin... Try this if you can find it!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap @ the brewery tap room. Pours a clear amber beer with a small off white head on top. Finally a pumpkin ale which is not so heavy on the spices. There’s some spices in there, but not so overwhelming like others. Flavour is medium sweet with a big herbal influence there. Big on cinnamon on the end of the flavor. Very nice brew.
