COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed on: October 10, 2011. Packaged on October 25, 2011. Our first ever collaborative beer has all the familiar flavors of the season, but done with Epic style. To a base of strong, roasty, and chocolaty porter, we add 200 pounds of real pumpkin per batch, five spice and whole Madagascar vanilla beans. As you pour this deeply ruby brown beer, you’re greeted by the aroma of fresh cut squash, followed by rich chocolate. The flavor starts sweet with marshmallow, vanilla, and some pumpkin pie, then yields to a coffee roast and dark chocolate dryness. This beer is a great introduction for curious drinkers and a special holiday treat for fans of the style.

Bomber of batch #7. Pours very dark, with a nice tan head. Very good lacing. Clove on the nose, and the tongue. Not overpowering though. Glad I got to try this limited release.

Pours dark brown, nearly black with deep ruby highlights. Typical head with nice lacing quality. Slight spice but little pumpkin on the nose. Taste starts with mild sweetness with notes of vanilla and whipped cream. A bit of pumpkin then shows through, transitioning into roast coffee and chocolate. Dry, lingering finish. Body is medium to light for a porter with a slight sparkle of carbonation at the end. Not as pumpkiny sweet or spicy as many other pumpkin beers, mostly because the solid roasty porter base is the star of the show. Also, the year of aging may have mellowed the spices. I’m not complaining, though, as this is one of the tastiest porters I’ve had in some time. The pumpkin and spice elements add a great touch without overwhelming.

22 oz. bottle, release #1- Pours black with red highlights in the light with a one finger light tan head. The aroma is pumpkin, not pumpkin spice, but the real thing, not much roastiness actually, pretty smooth and mellow. The taste is creamy and smooth, a nice pumpkin flavor, roasted malt, toasty, it has a little spice, but not full blown out pumpkin pie spices. I really dig this, much more than I thought I would, a nice way to kick off my infatuation of pumpkin beers around this season.

Bottle... Poured deep, dark, near pitch black with a thin moderate forming, light tan head that faded relatively quickly. Nice spicing on the nose. Hints of ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, malt, and pumpkin. Tasted of worty malt sweetness, pumpkin, and pie spice. Some toasted sweetness and mild roast too. This was quite nice.

29 sept 2012, bottle. Dark ruby, clear. Nose really reminds me of clove cigarettes, and burnt pie crust and slight pumpkin pie, and cloves. Thin/med body and slightly fizzy. Really tastes like clove cigarettes, burnt toast, slight pumpkin, orange zest. Nice and unique.

22oz bottle, shared by Jay. Release #3, 7.5% ABV. Very interesting squashy pumpkin aroma, some chocolate, toasty malts. Nice, tasty flavor, with a good toasty light chocolatey light roasty pumpkin aftertaste. Vanilla note works well. Roasty bitter taste. Smooth, lighter carbonation, dry texture, lighter body. Great on the palate, and the gourdy squash flavor lasts long in the aftertaste, good to savor. Clear but dark brown color, good thin tan head leaves good lace. Awesome, I love a good pumpkin porter. A lot more interesting than the typical lighter-colored over-spiced imperial pumpkin ale.

From a keg on the Beers In Paradise Oktoberfest bus trip to Alpine Village. Dark pour into a plastic cup :( Aroma was pumpkin seeds, cinnamon. Taste was vanilla, some chocolate marshmallow, with a nice porter roasted finish.

Bomber, batch #3, pours a deep brown with thick tan head. Aroma is very clean and yeasty with some spices. Flavor is richly malty with some clean yeast that gives it a classic porter taste, but then there is pumpkin pie spices and a little bit of hop fruitiness. Overall this is a very interesting brew I like the classic porter profile a nice pumpkin addition with some cool spice to it.
