Brewed on: October 10, 2011. Packaged on October 25, 2011. Our first ever collaborative beer has all the familiar flavors of the season, but done with Epic style. To a base of strong, roasty, and chocolaty porter, we add 200 pounds of real pumpkin per batch, five spice and whole Madagascar vanilla beans. As you pour this deeply ruby brown beer, you’re greeted by the aroma of fresh cut squash, followed by rich chocolate. The flavor starts sweet with marshmallow, vanilla, and some pumpkin pie, then yields to a coffee roast and dark chocolate dryness. This beer is a great introduction for curious drinkers and a special holiday treat for fans of the style.

Bottle from Belmont Station. Colour...black, though garnet brown when held to the light, with a thick tan head. Nose...very roasty and somewhat sweetly spicy with a lean towards roasted nuts and pumpkin seeds. Palate...quite roasty and coffee like with notes of chicory, burned Postum, baked squash and pie crust. I don’t get a whole lot of pumpkin, specifically, but there is certainly a squash flavour here. I’m not sure that this is a pumpkin porter BUT this is a damn fine impy porter!

Nose is slight spice with a hint of pumpkin and jus a bit of porter mocha goodness. this beer pours a rich reddish brown with barely any head. Taste is roasted mocha pumpkin goodness. Body is very mildly lively. finish is clean with just a bit of roasted malts that have an aspect pumpkin if that makes any sense. it does in this beer. very nice.

Deep mahogany color with a foamy tan head. Nice soft mouth feel even with a very present alcohol burn. Nose of pie spice and some roasted grains. This is a big sweet, rich porter with hints of clove, ginger and cinnamon. Some chocolate covered cherries as it warms, with the spice coming out in the finish.

From a bomber. Delicious, subtle pumpkin, not so subtle chocolate and vanilla. Creamy, milky, not too boozy. Very nice...

From 2012 bottle, labeled Release #7, with 7.7% ABV. Deep dark brown color. Aroma is rich dark chocolate, vanilla, and spices. Taste is chocolate, vanilla, nutmeg, and pumpkin notes. Pumpkin is fairly subtle at first, but there is a touch of pumpkin pie aftertaste mingled with the chocolate.

Tasted on tap. Pours black with tan head. Good lacing. Aroma is roasted chocolate with some spices. Taste starts of with spices and vanilla and ends with roasted chocolate. Creamy full bodied and really sits on palate. Tastes like the bastard child of a vanilla porter and pumpkin beer with more porter than pumpkin. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
