Brewed on: October 10, 2011. Packaged on October 25, 2011. Our first ever collaborative beer has all the familiar flavors of the season, but done with Epic style. To a base of strong, roasty, and chocolaty porter, we add 200 pounds of real pumpkin per batch, five spice and whole Madagascar vanilla beans. As you pour this deeply ruby brown beer, you’re greeted by the aroma of fresh cut squash, followed by rich chocolate. The flavor starts sweet with marshmallow, vanilla, and some pumpkin pie, then yields to a coffee roast and dark chocolate dryness. This beer is a great introduction for curious drinkers and a special holiday treat for fans of the style.

Bomber from Pint Defiance. Pours dark brown. Thin tan head. Scent is somewhat malty, spicy. Taste is also malty, bready. Some pumpkin spice. Not much alcohol. Pretty good.

Pumpkin and stuff... And toasty malts and junk and also a weird aftertaste that I don’t quite enjoy.... But you know... It’s still pretty good.

What i liked most about this one was the pumpkin wasnt in your face overwhelming like many of these type of beers. A fair amount of spices with cinnamon, allspice, some slight chocolatey roastiness from the malts. Finishes dry, overall a nice Imperial Pumpkin Porter.

Draft at the source with Andrew, Ellen and her friends. Pours a deep brown body with thin white lacing. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with notes of spice, vanilla, and clove. Light chocolate and roast.

Cola pour. Nose of light fruity pumpkin, faint spice, and hints of cocoa/roast malt. Flavor is a tangy roasty porter base with light pumpkin. Acidic, tangy finish with a drying, almost oak-like finish. Nice porter, guess the pumpkin adds a bit, but think that this beer could easily stand on its own.

Brown with thick creamy tan head. Vegetal aroma. Taste- sweet malt with cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, brown sugar and light roasted malt. Mild tasting for such a high ABV. Creamy mouthfeel. Nice Pumpkin ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Brown body with a short, frothy brown head. Aroma of roasted grain, cocoa. Light hints of nutmeg and all spice. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Light alcoholic finish. Lots of pumpkin in this beer (according to the commercial description), but since pumpkin doesn’t taste like much at all, the beer doesn’t taste much like pumpkin — nor the spices associated with pumpkin pie. That’s not bad since so many pumpkin beers are overly spiced. This is under spiced. Hint of alcohol in the finish along with chocolate and coffee bitterness.

Squash and malt aroma. Light bodied roast character with a fresh pumpkin (vs roasted pumpkin) and slight cinnamon spice flavor. Rich brown color with off-white head. Note: from bomber at the brewery in Salt Lake. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from last year. Poured into a tulip at home. Pours a very deep brown with an eggshell head. Some lacing. Aroma is sweet chocolate, some pumpkin or yams, marshmallow, vanilla, and pie spices. The taste really blew me away. (Not a pumpkin beer fan usually.) It was a very velvety chocolate cream with a hint of the pumpkin, yam, marshmallow, vanilla, and pie spices. It was very creamy and lactose based. I thought it was extremely well balanced and flavorful. Full body, moderate carb. Def getting another one of these and aging for one year. Solid job.

Pour is a near black with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet but burnt malt with a very subtle pumpkin pie spice. Flavor is some sweet chocolate malt with some vanilla and caramel sugar notes. Pumpkin spice is kind of an after thought as they are overshadowed by the rich porter malts. If you are looking for a intense pumpkin beer this is not the one to look for. This is more a spiced porter with the porter aspect leading the way.
