COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed on: October 10, 2011. Packaged on October 25, 2011. Our first ever collaborative beer has all the familiar flavors of the season, but done with Epic style. To a base of strong, roasty, and chocolaty porter, we add 200 pounds of real pumpkin per batch, five spice and whole Madagascar vanilla beans. As you pour this deeply ruby brown beer, you’re greeted by the aroma of fresh cut squash, followed by rich chocolate. The flavor starts sweet with marshmallow, vanilla, and some pumpkin pie, then yields to a coffee roast and dark chocolate dryness. This beer is a great introduction for curious drinkers and a special holiday treat for fans of the style.

DATE TASTED: October 26, 2013... GLASSWARE: HopDevil nonick... OCCASION: offering PSU some comeback inspiration... APPEARANCE: jet black body; oatmeal-thick brown head; lacing is uneven but thick as well... AROMA: crisp, candied flavor; toasted nut and oat undergird thee spiciness that is as much holiday as mischief night...PALATE: slightly warming, medium-bodied and drinkable--the IMPERIAL aspect is so subtle one quickly/nervously sips...TASTE: pumpkin, apple, peat and an odd funk of medicinal/plastic bottle vodka that takes the rating down a click--still big and old...OVERALL: of the handful of fall bombers I bought, this dares to blend the fall and winter seasons, and it does so deftly; a powerful punch of alcohol by the bottle’s end only endears the drink more...more the Galloping Hessian than the Great Pumpkin, in terms of its substance and strength...

#2100. Draft. Brune pour with tan head. No aroma to speak of. Some chocolate and vanilla, taste artificial, and pumpkin flavors. Not so epic.

Poured from 22 oz. bottle after cellaring for almost a year. Opaque, brown-black with a khaki head and excellent lacing. Aroma of pumpkin fruit, chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, toffee, vanilla, allspice and mild nutmeg. Taste of milk chocolate, toffee, vanilla, sweet roasted malt, pumpkin fruit, light molasses and a modicum of pumpkin pie spices. Medium/full body and medium/low carbonization. The fruit and chocolate malt come through strong and work very well together. The spices you'd expect in a pumpkin ale are quite subdued--perhaps as a result of the aging and perhaps for the better. The is a delicious ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber. Pours dark brown with a small foamy head that lingers nicely. Aroma is pumpkin pie spices with some light roastiness and chocolate. Taste is smooth and creamy. Nice balance of lightly roasted coffee, chocolate, and pumpkin pie spices. Thin to medium body, very smooth and easy drink, nice creaminess. Really good pumpkin porter.

Bottle. Dark bowman pour, almost black, with a light tan head. More pumpkin in the aroma than in the flavor. Roasted malt, a bit of cocoa, dark fruit, and pumpkin. The beer doesn’t come together terrificly well. Ok.

Smells like pumpkin but very slight pumpkin flavors. Dark fruit yes but not much specific pumpkin. Not the best stuff.
