COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed on: October 10, 2011. Packaged on October 25, 2011. Our first ever collaborative beer has all the familiar flavors of the season, but done with Epic style. To a base of strong, roasty, and chocolaty porter, we add 200 pounds of real pumpkin per batch, five spice and whole Madagascar vanilla beans. As you pour this deeply ruby brown beer, you’re greeted by the aroma of fresh cut squash, followed by rich chocolate. The flavor starts sweet with marshmallow, vanilla, and some pumpkin pie, then yields to a coffee roast and dark chocolate dryness. This beer is a great introduction for curious drinkers and a special holiday treat for fans of the style.

Really excited about this beer- but somewhat dissappointing. Nose was not great. Flavors of roasted malts, distant chocolate, nuttiness. Some pumpkin upfront. Ended w/ an unpleasant vegetal/ medicinal note. Might be decent after aging a year? Not too enjoyable.

"They really nailed the pumpkin in this one, and the balance between the fruit, and the roasted and chocolate malts. Looks light on the pour, but the mouthfeel is easily adequate if not overly indulgent. The aroma of pumpkin, spices, and cocoa takes a while to open up, but does so nicely. Flavor is definitely the strength."

22 oz. Bottle. Nutmeg, chocolate, and butternut squash on the nose. Pours a dark brown with tan head. Some nice lacing. Great balance with a mix of chocolate, coffee, pumpkin, hops, roasted barley, and nutmeg. Great football watching beer!

22 oz bottle. The pour is a dark ruby brown, see through, with a thicker lift khaki head and a lot of clingy lace. The aroma is not what I was expecting. No real spice or pumpkin and a thin chocolate. There is a little cinnamon on the back end, but it's definitely thin. The flavor is the same. There is a bit more of a vegetable quality to it, but the dominant flavors are not present. Light chocolate and some vague spice, but the pumpkin really isn't what I was expecting. The mouth feel is thin and slick without much carbonation. The aftertaste is lightly chocolatey, and fully disappointing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

[5673-20130817] Bottle. Toasted pumpkin skins aroma. Clear, dark brown body with a quick foamy off-white head. Roasted gourd grains flavour. Full body. Interesting. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4

Shared by the new guy Friday night. Light pumpkin spice, nice dark beer base. If more pumpkin beers followed this path I might enjoy them more.

Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks good for the style; a translucent dark brown with foamy beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; pumpkin, vanilla, and related spices. A nice pumpkin pie nose. Tastes like it smells with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

Bottle - Pours a dark rich brown/black with a thin tan head. Aroma is wonderful fall scents; malty, warm, spices. Flavors are fantastic; pumpkin, chocolate, spice. Aftertaste is smooth and very drinkable.

Nearly black color, moderate head, decent lace/retention. Aroma is chocolate, spice, pumpkin, vanilla, caramel. Medium bodied, strong vanilla flavor with lesser chocopumpkin flavors. Interesting concept I guess.

Bottle into a wine glass. Thick, heavy black, a midnight cloak. Head is well-formed and very retentive, a good inch and a half tall and khaki in color. It hangs out for several minutes and paints the glass in full, thick sheets. Sweet roasted pumpkin and milk chocolate lead the nose. A splash of nutmeg and clove, a little caramel, some toasted biscuits. Toasty, malty nose. Fresher pumpkin in the flavor, brighter. More clove, lots of alcohol. Cinnamon and allspice ring through upon the swallow. Interestingly, not much from the malts. Maybe a dash of cocoa. Lingering burnt roast. Velvety medium body, silky. Spices seem to provide more bitterness than hops. Some peppery alcohol heat. Silky smooth. Very mild, tingly carbonation. Not outstanding, but very smooth. Goes down easily for its strength, which is substantial. It’s all about smoothness with this one. Flavors are well blended, body is gentle.
