COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed on: October 10, 2011. Packaged on October 25, 2011. Our first ever collaborative beer has all the familiar flavors of the season, but done with Epic style. To a base of strong, roasty, and chocolaty porter, we add 200 pounds of real pumpkin per batch, five spice and whole Madagascar vanilla beans. As you pour this deeply ruby brown beer, you’re greeted by the aroma of fresh cut squash, followed by rich chocolate. The flavor starts sweet with marshmallow, vanilla, and some pumpkin pie, then yields to a coffee roast and dark chocolate dryness. This beer is a great introduction for curious drinkers and a special holiday treat for fans of the style.

Poured from bottle into English pint. Pours a rich chocolate brown, khaki head about 1 finger tall. Height of head dissipates pretty quickly, but never goes away. Aroma - malt, chocolate, vanilla, and pumpkin spices. Taste - chocolate, coffee, dark malt, subtle sweetness from pumpkin with a touch of spice. Mostly this tastes like a porter, but the pumpkin and spices are subtle, but definitely present. Mouthfeel is a bit oily, carbonation is very fizzy on the tongue. Finish is short to medium length. Nice change of pace from the light pumpkin ale that’s everywhere.

On draft at Right Proper. Pours a very dark brown with hint of plum coloration. Head is off white, and leaves moderate soapy lacing on the glass. Aroma is mild vegetal complexity and light roasted malt character with hint of pumpkin pie spice profile. Flavor is roasted malt, light mocha complexity, a hint of spice and pumpkin, and dark fruit sweetness. Alcohol is well masked - a deceptively easy drinking solid beer all around.

UPDATED: SEP 29, 2014 Refrigerated brown bomber, release #15, poured into a snifter. Black with medium brown highlights and with small beige head. Aroma is vanilla/pumpkin/some roastiness, medium body, medium/light carbonation, and good small-bubble lacing. Taste is marshmallow, vanilla, some spice, some pumpkin, and some chocolate. Pretty easy to drink, alcohol is well covered, and overall pretty good.

Thursday’s Total Wine Autumn beer tasting class. Nice. Aroma is spice; good mouthfeel; mild pumpkin flavor; better than the Southern Tier Warlock that came just before.

Dark brown with red tint and near white head. Aroma is musty pumpkin. Taste is pumpkin and spice. Enjoyable.

Bomber crushed with GreeneMan. Pours dark brown with a fizzy head that doesn’t stick around. Don’t get much pumpkin off of this one, so the name is a bit misleading. Get serious amounts of chocolate and marshmallow on the nose and flavor. Some pumpkin spices, but more s’more tendencies. Still, pretty damn good for what it is. Very dry, chocolatey finish.

Bomber shared, poured medium brown with red hues. Decent lacing on the glass. Aroma a plenty, roasted coffee, chocolate, pumpkin, spices. The flavor is incredible. A plethora of roasted coffee, chocolate, pumpkin spices. Blended very well together. No one flavor overpowers the other. There is a distinct vanilla flavor start to finish with is so smooth.

"They really nailed the pumpkin in this one, and the balance between the fruit, and the roasted and chocolate malts. Looks light on the pour, but the mouthfeel is easily adequate if not overly indulgent. The aroma of pumpkin, spices, and cocoa takes a while to open up, but does so nicely. Flavor is definitely the strength."

22 oz. Bottle. Nutmeg, chocolate, and butternut squash on the nose. Pours a dark brown with tan head. Some nice lacing. Great balance with a mix of chocolate, coffee, pumpkin, hops, roasted barley, and nutmeg. Great football watching beer!

22 oz bottle. The pour is a dark ruby brown, see through, with a thicker lift khaki head and a lot of clingy lace. The aroma is not what I was expecting. No real spice or pumpkin and a thin chocolate. There is a little cinnamon on the back end, but it's definitely thin. The flavor is the same. There is a bit more of a vegetable quality to it, but the dominant flavors are not present. Light chocolate and some vague spice, but the pumpkin really isn't what I was expecting. The mouth feel is thin and slick without much carbonation. The aftertaste is lightly chocolatey, and fully disappointing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
