COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed on: October 10, 2011. Packaged on October 25, 2011. Our first ever collaborative beer has all the familiar flavors of the season, but done with Epic style. To a base of strong, roasty, and chocolaty porter, we add 200 pounds of real pumpkin per batch, five spice and whole Madagascar vanilla beans. As you pour this deeply ruby brown beer, youíre greeted by the aroma of fresh cut squash, followed by rich chocolate. The flavor starts sweet with marshmallow, vanilla, and some pumpkin pie, then yields to a coffee roast and dark chocolate dryness. This beer is a great introduction for curious drinkers and a special holiday treat for fans of the style.

This is a really well balanced beer. A lot of "pumpkin" beers hit you over the head with piles of cinnamon. That isnít the case with this beer. You really do get a lot of the sweetness and flavor of the pumpkin, which is balanced out with deep roast. The other spices round out the flavor, but donít overwhelm.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with very little head to it. Great notes of pumpkin and chocolate in the nose. Iím not even a huge pumpkin fan and I like this. Really interesting flavor palate. Pumpkin up front with chocolaty flavors coming in underneath. Surprised at just how much I like this. Great find.

Bottle. This beer emerges with a great pour that builds anticipation ... beautifully reddish-black, with a frothy, gluey head of tan foam. The initial whiff is equally enticing ... rich and as sweet as the most decadent, gourmet desserts. This drinks with an exceptionally smooth mouthfeel, silky, but well-bodied. Itís an interesting drink -- the pumpkin is well subdued, adding an earthy aspect to otherwise chocolate-rich brew. Superb! (#4413, 12/19/2011)

22 oz. One of the better pumpkin beers Iíve had. Nice balance between a classic porter with the spices and pumpkin flavor.

Bottle from release #1. This is one dark porter. Very small ruby highlights, but otherwise dark as night. Thick, rockyish, light tan head. Smells just like pumpkin pie except with some chocolate notes underneath. So in other words, amazing! Pretty sweet up front with vanilla and pumpkin pie flavors. Cinnamon is definitely present and finishes with a soft chocolate bitterness. One of the best porters to ever grace my palate. I will now definitely try other Epic brews.

Black with a tan creamy head. Not much aroma but taste is smooth. Excellent flavors such as vanilla and a slight pumpkin. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black pour with a thin light tan head. Aroma is like sweet dark cake mix but with a sweet not-too-cloy spiced pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing. Flavor brings out the spices a bit more, like nutmeg an cinnamon, but also some toasty pecan notes and a dark smokey sweetness alongside the pumpkin spice cake and cream cheese notes. Lovely!

Bottle with Keith, Simon, and Kev. Pours a dark purple color with medium head. Aromas of pumpkin, chocolate, pumpkin guts, squash, vanilla beans. Taste is a rich chocolate pumpkin soaked experience with gingerbread, pumpernickel, cloves, cinnamon. Awesome pumpkin porter, if it was aged in bourbon barrels, it would be a homerun. Next year?
