3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 pushkinwow (1338) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 22, 2012
Bomber from Douglas88 in a giant local trade. Dark brown with a nice light mocha head that fades to a thick ring. A nice roasted malt with some celery, light expresso, some caramel, milk. Mild carbonation and somewhat thin although still decent with a touch of sweetness. This is a decent brew but I prefer a little more oomph or complexity.

A surprisingly great beer from Utah. Loved the coffee notes and the thin mouthfeel, though not as creamy as I normally like. Overall a good one!

Roasted barley aroma; a little smoky. Nice balance of roasted and caramel flavor. On the dry end of the stout spectrum -- which is OK with me. A little licorice flavor. Some subtle fruity and spicy flavor from the hops... an yeast, maybe?

Bottle: Clear brown with not much head. Sweet malty aroma with some chocolate. Super thin for a sweet stout and with a semi-watery finish. Pretty good, just not for the style.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bluejacket74 (992) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - OCT 6, 2012
22 ounce bottle, Release #15, Brewed on 1/19/2012, Packaged 2/2/2012, 5.6% ABV. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. It smells like roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, dark fruit and some molasses. It tastes like roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, coffee, caramel malt and molasses. It’s a little more sweet than bitter tasting. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit slick and creamy, and is also well carbonated. I think it’s a good stout overall. At just $4.99 a bottle, I’d buy it again. It’s certainly worth a try at that price, although I’d like to try a fresher bottle next time.

Pours a dark brown with ample tan head. Aroma is lightly of coffee and chocolate. Taste of malt, slightly sweet taste of mocha. Smooth and quite drinkable. Not a great stout, but solidly OK. A close thumbs up, mainly because I like stouts.
