3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, release #11. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of sweet lactose and roasted malt. Flavor of roasted malt with plenty of sweetness. It’s ok, but not particularly flavorful and the palate is thin. A simple sweet stout, drinkable but nothing special.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 1/20/12
Aroma: The nose is roasted malts, light chocolate and caramel, bread, dough, and coffee
Appearance: The pour is a dark brown-black color with a small beige head and streaky lace
Flavor: The taste is fairly subdued, mostly roasted malty flavors similar to the nose, lightly sweet
Palate: The body is light-medium, with a fairly short duration, average carbonation, and a slightly dry finish
I thought this was a decent stout, but not a particularly exciting one.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Release #7. Dark ruby/plum with a small, bright white head. Bittersweet cocoa nose with light coffee roast. Moderately sweet flavor with mild smokey notes, light toffee and a definite roasted nut finish. Dry, nutty and toasted barley finish is long lasting. Moderately high carbonation with a slightly thin palate. A rather light stout that is quite sessionable. Thanks to my friend Caryn for the bottle.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
poured from 22 ounce bomber ( Release #11) - Pretty damn good stout from Epic, but this has been my experience with the majority of their beers: quality! So this stout changes from year to year? This year’s is pretty sweet, but does have some burnt notes in there as well. Slick feel. Very good bargain craft bomber.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting.
Body is dark brown.
Aroma is moderately malty (cocoa powder, cereal, roasted grain), lightly hoppy (herbs).
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter.
Light to medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Clumsy malt character in this one...odors of icky Hershey’s cocoa and Rice/Corn Chex abound. Some hop brightness helps, but man that malt needs some re-tooling. Underattenuated, soggy/limp, and thin in the mouth. Not much enticing in this one, unfortunately. Kinda like extract homebrew.
