Sample at the House Wine EPIC beer tasting on 04/18/2012: This beer is black with a medium tan head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Roasty aroma of malt and coffee. Medium body with a toasty malt character and notes of mild coffee, chocolate and a touch of hops. The finish is roasty with a sweet malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

On nitro tap at Apex, pours red tinged dark brown / black with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, nitrous oxide and bitter chocolate. Flavour of bitter chocolate malt, dry toasted bread and a metallic, bitter malt finish. Not terribly stimulating, with the stale metallic notes being quite annoying. Decent.

Bottle, Release #16. Pours a brownish black with an airy head. The aroma is nice and laden with java. This is an easy drink ... Mildly laced with cocoa and coffee, but light bodied and drinkable. Finessed. (#4560, 4/8/2012)

Bomber from Brewforia. Release #11. 5.4%. Pours very dark brown with a creamy light tan head. Aromas of burnt malt and mild chocolate. Med body. Flavor is smooth burnt malt, almost milky chocoate, and some earthy hop. It’s quit dry, and a bit astringent. Leaves a burning/tingling sensation on the tip of my tongue in the finish. Damn if it doesn’t suggest a touch of chili. Too bad these various releases are all crammed together.

Tap sample - Nitro. Poured a black color with a large fizzy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate dark coffee and sweet malt aroma. Medium dark chocolate flavor with a medium sweet coffee finish of moderate duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a good beer.
