Batch: 1 Deep rich muddy brown coloured body with a copper glow and a thin, half a centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of nice complex malt, spices (nutmeg and coriander seed), sour grapes, alcohol and quite a bit of sweetness - very nice. Medium-bodied; Nice assertive sour grape flavour at first with a lot of light earthy spices, some yeast and a hint of sweetness, but the sourness akin to a berliner weiss is very noticeable - and very pleasant. Aftertaste shows a hint of spices, a bit of the malt and a good pungent sourness that leaves the palate looking for the next sip. Overall, a very good and complex beer that seemingly fuses two unique and not-well-combined styles, but does so very well. This is basically a sour/wild ale or perhaps even a berliner weiss plus one with spice/herb/veg, but it’s very nice and welcome! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington on 11-January-2013 for US$5.99 sampled at home in the real Washington on 03-February-2013.
