3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour and earthy aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy complex bitter flavor with a moderate to heavy bitter finish of medium to long duration. This beer exceeded my expectations.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle and poured in a Duval snifter: Clean golden hue with a rocky but lasting head, pretty good lace. The aroma has notes of grapefruit, pineapple, mango, resiny pine, clove and pepper hop esters along with biscuity and slight crystal malt. The taste is more earthy and herbal than PNW acidic fruity hops found on the nose but still nicely done. The pale malt seem to be a bit supporting cast and the yeast fermentation allows the hops to come forward, that is the good news. Alas, there is also dirty water or chemical character that does takes the edge off. Nice hop spice upon the finish helps bring this back towards enjoyment however. The mouth feel is lively and smooth, very easy to drink, finished pretty clean. I would say that this far exceeded my expections and minus the one flaw I found, a well done brew. I wonder which NZ hops were used in this brew? I am thinking Southern Cross and Pacific Jem.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500mL bottle. American style IPA big on hop bitterness, flavour and aroma but low on malt. Big punch of passionfruit, citrus and pine hop aroma. Reasonably bitter. Big fruity hop flavour. Lightly sweet caramel malt flavour.

4 oz. @ SIB 2010
I was totally wrong about the hops. Website claims US Cascade, US Centennial, US Columbus, and US Simcoe. Probably makes me wrong about Pliny as well.
"Four tix was an overpayment. Smells like a typical amarillo IPA but lacks the malt backbone of great IPAs (Pliny)"

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
medium gold with large white head. citrus and herbal hop notes. low carbonation for the style, which actually works well. firm bitterness before a large hop flavor of the above components before a slight malt that allows the hops to be predominate. a dry finish, with a touch of alcohol, that could be bettter reserved. good version

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bright grapefruit citrus and earthy hop aroma balanced by caramel malt. Clear, copper-orange, frothy and persistent white head. Medium+ bitterness and medium sweet for a great balance. Bitter blast on attack with malt sweetness rounding out in the middle. Lively carbonation, medium body, slicky texture and a lasting and slightly dry bitter finish. Good interpretation of a west coast IPA. Perhaps a little grassy but very solid.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Copper/orange colour with white head. Aromas are of pine, orange peel, floral and citric hops. What really dominates though is a pungent resin character. Flavours are similar, with the resin tied to the long, lingering bitterness. This is an American-style IPA that stands out from the crowd a bit. Very nice!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Clear rich golden color, medium and lasting carbonation and a wonderful ultra woody and bitter hop aroma. Flavor starts out with a crisp vanilla hops, then mellows into a nice coating and piney bitterness through my mouth as I swallow. More apricots, oranges, and sweet bitter hops develop as the beer warms a little bit. Solid beer, and worth buying at least once, I’d buy this regularly but can’t afford $12 bottles of beer all the time.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours golden amber into a snifter. White head crackles and recedes to skim surface. Toasted nuts and resin aromas. Full with upfront sweet caramel turning dry in the astringent pine and resin finish.
