Inspired by west Coast IPA’s on a trip to San Diego for the World Beer Cup and a part of an IPA showdown with Hallertau Brewery . Only 1000 litres of this insane hop joy have been created. The rumour has started that Epic Armageddon IPA is "the sole reason there is a global hop shortage".

Pours a darker golden color with a white head. Aroma is of floral hops, caramel malts, and some grass. Flavor is strong of the floral hops and earthy tones. Slight bitterness on the finish.

Strong hoppy aroma, which pours a golden/ amber colour. Taste includes passion fruit along with other fruits such as lychee. Top class IPA, which I hope I can grab more of in the future.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Ariel. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma has a bit of malt and some piney and citric, yet slightly old hops. Flavor has a bit of malty sweetness and decent bitter hoppiness with citrus and light stale notes. Medium-bodied. Decent.

Bottle with a best before of 26.07.12...hope that is fresh. Pours with a clear golden yellow body with a large, frothy white head. Good color (low crystal hopefully). Looks like some high carbonation, good retention and lace. Aromas are grassy, minerally, stone fruit, light pine. Very mild grainy flavors. Tangerine, saw dust. Pretty clean yeast wise. Candied orange peel. Flavors are a bit disappointing. Straw like, a bit spicy, mild fruit hops. Light mango and dried fruit. Minimal malt. Bitterness is medium to slightly high. Some honey/biscuity malt, but mostly pretty bland overall (sadly). Missing the hop flavor punch (not bitterness) that I am looking for. Lively bubbles, and quite dry. A good basis. I don’t know if this is not fresh, or just not quite there. A very good attempt, and I bet better closer to the source (although still 8 months before the best buy date)!

Very nice hoppy/piney aroma, moderate carbonation, easy drinking beer. Personally, enjoy a bit more citrus in the flavor to complement the aromatics, but a very good beer.

Aroma is VERY strong and VERY hoppy, smelling like fresh-cut pine wood, with a subtle undertone of grapefruit. It pours a clear straw yellow with a thick white head - not impressive, but if appearance is a beer’s weakest point, big fat hairy deal. Er, big fat hoppy deal. ;) Flavor is, yes, quite hoppy, somewhat evergreen, yet only a little bitter, with a hint of sour citrus, mainly grapefruit plus a bit of orange. Lively texture is quite fizzy and leaves a lip-smacking hoppy tingle. "Armageddon" enthusiastic about beer from New Zealand, and look forward to trying more brewskis from Epic and other NZ breweries!

500 ml. Orange-amber with a ring of sticky foam. Aromas of orange and grapefruit drenched in sticky resin and caramel. Tastes of grapefruit, peppery resin, and orange toffee. Dry finish is resin, green herb, wood and menthol. Light-medium body is watery, well-balanced and pretty sessionable.

22oz bottle. Aroma and taste of grapefruit and hops in general. Solid Ila, good example of the variety. Love the abv! 6.66% alcohol.
