2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22oz bomber, release # 9 (Nov. 2012), 10.6% abv. Pours an opaque amber, slightly orange. No head. Aroma is mainly alcohol and bready yeast, taste is the same. Just not a very complex beer. Not the best ABW I'have had, but not the worst either.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thick mouthfeel, notes of alcohol and dark caramel, hops come in a little too quickly and strong but donít subtract from the wonder.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Raisins, brown sugar and caramel on the nose. Deep crimson brown in color with a thin foam. Strong hop flavor with notes of dates, sherry, oak, bread crust and herbs. Alcohol is slightly masked yet, noticeable on this finish. Undertones of yeast, nuts and caramel. Overall, very unique and well done barley wine. Iíd give this an A rating.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white to light brown, mostly lasting.
Body is dark amber.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (cookie, toasted grain, caramel), moderately hoppy (apricot, grapefruit, resin), lightly yeasty (dough), with notes of honey, dried mango, gum, alcohol.
Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, syrupy/watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic.
Good stuff for the style...clean nose with a healthy dose of fruitiness that helps to distract one from the crude resinous hops. Quite sweet, as one would expect, but thereís plenty of finishing bitterness so itís actually reasonably well-balanced for this type of brew. Kind of a sloppy mouthfeel (syrupy and hot), but all in all a fairly solid rendition.

Bottle from the Best Damn Beer Shop in San Diego. Pours reddish copper with a tiny beige head and a plum and toffee aroma. There is a hearty fruit and molasses flavor with a dry finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a deep maroon with off white head. Nose and taste are still dominated be the American style hops. A nice malty sweetness supports the hops nicely. Very well balanced, the singularity in the hop keeps it from being exceptional.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
My first barley wine experience. A great half and half of dry, sweet red wine and hoppy bitterness. Big, warming flavor thanks to over 10% ABV.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, I got this as part of a trade back in April 2011. Held onto it for a bit to let it mature. It was good, poured a nice cloudy brown. Very sweet, brown sugar, candy flavors. Smooth, easy to drink, not too boozy, though Iím feeling it after the fact.
