4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Release #17, 12.0%. 22 oz bottle, Kroger on Bridge St in Dublin; $8.99 I think. Very dark black but not quite fully opaque; one-finger light tan head dissipates quickly into a small ring and an extremely thin, sparse covering; virtually no lacing. First aroma is coffee and chocolate. But look! Itís not that typical overly bitter, overly roasty coffee thing that big stouts do! Hallelujah! It smells like REAL coffee, only colder. Some breathing and warming reveals more subtle aroma notes of oak and bourbon. In terms of flavor, very heavily chocolate, but again, REAL coffee. The roast level is spectacularly low for the magnitude of this beer, and itís really great to see such a coffee-heavy beer simultaneously be a little more subdued while itís kicking you in the mouth. The finish is vanilla, chocolate, lighter bitterness, and even lighter bourbon. If I didnít know better, I would absolutely not guess this was anything close to 12%; I honestly donít detect alcohol in this at all, but having drank half the bottle I can feel that itís there. Medium-full to full body, almost silky but just a tad too bubbly to say that. Really nice.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, Release #13, enjoyed with friends on New Yearís Eve. Pours black with a small bubbly head that quickly fades away. Aroma is big and intense. Cocoa, fresh, lightly roasted coffee, oak, vanilla, and light bourbon. Love the taste. Great balance of coffee, cocoa, and bourbon barrel. Light cereal sweetness at first and finish moderately bitter. Light booziness. Alcohol is hidden at first but becomes slightly noticeable when it warms. Thin to medium body. Really good BB stout with a few minor flaws.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Black with a tan head. Aroma and taste are mostly coffee grinds. Just feels incomplete, like someone is ringing a coffee filter out into my mouth. Not for me.

Batch 19: 10.4%
Itís black with a sheet of light tan foam. Smells like coffee mostly, then some cocoa, some coconut notes, some vanilla, tannic oak. Flavor is bitter and sweet, plain coffee (americano style), some bitter chocolate, some resin, seems a little hoppy, but also like the coffee was added too hot and made the beer overly bitter. Medium bodied for style with almost high carb and a dry finish. Good beer, but not special. From a state with beer stigma, this is a standout, but I would take Uintaís Labyrinth all day over this.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The coffee in this is more assertive than any other beer Iíve had to date. The aroma is enjoyable fresh roasted coffee. The taste continues the theme, with effort required to pick out much else. Overall I enjoyed it more than Iíd expect, but Iíd have to be in the mood for coffee to ever buy it again.

Trade from Sean9689, thanks bro. Release #13. Black body with a small brown head. Roasted malt, coffe, cocoa, whiskey notes, light smoke. The flavor is bitter hard roasted coffee with a light boozy whiskey finish. This is quite good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very nice, bold imperial sout. Lots of chocolate, and coffee. Smooth texture to go with it. Hides the booze well; not crazy bitter, or smoky. Pretty good stuff!
