UPDATED: MAY 29, 2014 Release #24, 10.5 % ABV. Pours a super dark brown, with a decent dark tan head. Aroma is a wonderful mix of bourbon, anise, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is similar: smooth, rich and quite excellent. The chocolate comes thru more in the taste. Very drinkable, thumbs WAY up!. This is a truly great imperial stout.

Draft - Sweet chocolate, vanilla and light roast coffee. Jet black with a beige head. Bittersweet chocolate and bitter coffee. Sweetness in nose is lost which is too bad and the boys is a bit light,

5oz taste at the brewpub. Pours black, incredible lacing, strong adhesion. Taste is rockin the coffee a little more than the cocoa, but about even, not as much bourbon, but itís muscled out, not forgotten. Palate is sticky; itís rich, bold and takes no prisoners. Beware the baptist.

2014 bottle to a tulip glass. Pours black with a light brown head. Aroma is vegetal spicy peppers, chocolate and coffee. Taste milk chocolate, roasted peppers and malt. A medium-full mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A pretty dark but not quite black color with a bit of cream colored head. Smell is earthy coffee, vegetal, almost peppers. Taste is a lot of roasted earthy coffee, chocolate, roasted bitter, some caramel malt. Coffee is the king of the party here but it's a good coffee flavor and is balanced by just a bit of the sweet chocolate and caramel malt. Medium mouthfeel bitter doesn't stay on the tongue. Alcohol is hidden well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours an opaque black with a khaki head with good retention and lacing. Aroma has big coffee and some vegetal character along with chocolate. Roasty flavor with espresso and dark and milk chocolate. Some alcohol and bakers chocolate in aftertaste with a mild roasted bitterness. Mouthfeel is oily with with a medium/full body and low carbonation. Standard tasting coffee stout but I would like to try a fresher bottle.

Pours a dark black with light lacing tan head. Moderate to heavy malt with some coffee and hints of bourbon. Great aroma overall. Taste is heavy sweet with a long lasting bitter duration and a slight bourbon kick at the finish. Complex and delicious, overall an amazing beer.

Dark brown. Big coffee aroma, but like a sweet creamy coffee. Rich, super sweet, again some coffee but itís silky...chocolate, too, but again silky. Finish is warming and decadent. Apres-ski beer if Iíve ever had one.

Had on tap. Pours dark with no real head. Smelled dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Very smooth tasting. For a high ABV I did not get an alcohol taste - but did feel it later. Nice balance of chocolate and coffee. Not an overpowering bourbon or whiskey taste to it. I did get the feeling in my head later that night and next day that I get whenever I drink even small amounts of whiskey though. Unsure why as this would not appear to be enough. I did tick it down a notch for that, but for others that never have this affect it will be fine. Great beer that I am glad the bartender stated I need to try.
