Beautiful black imperial stout. Pours black as the night without a lot of head. Full bodied stout. Quite lovely.

It is Friday and 100 degrees. Came home to this. Taste of coffee. Strong and that is needed. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Iíve had this beer many times, including at the brewery in SLC, and it seems to taste better every time I try it. Itís rich and silky and filled with notes of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, oak and sweet whiskey. Whiskey isnít overpowering like some BA beers out there, either; itís a great addition to the flavor mix. Nice roast, too, plus the perfect level of hop bitterness, which adds to the beerís wonderful balance. Just delicious.

Pours a very dark brown to black with a thin tan ring. Very strong coffee aroma. Taste has some cocoa, lots of coffee and whiskey flavors. Not really my favorite style of stout. OK but a little too much coffee and booze.

Wow, even on a hot summerís night this is good stuff. 22 oz bomber, and it pours out exactly the way a big stout should look. Deep almost obsidian black with a rich tan head, light carbonation. Creamy chocolate and coffee nose accompanied by classic roast stout notes. No evidence of alcohol despite its hefty 12.5%. Just a hint of booze on the tongue, but itís well met with cocoa and coffee, some licorice and pepper, and just enough tannic and roasted malt acidity to cut through the thick malt. Hops presence is properly buried in the background, contributing only bittering balance without stealing any attention away. Excellent imperial stout.

Iím not sure which release I had, but does it even matter? One of the better beers you will find west of the Mississippi.

Type: 8-oz. draft Glass: Clear tulip glass From: Alpine Beer Company Pub in Alpine, Calif. Price: $8.00 Purchased: June 18, 2016 Consumed: June 18, 2016 Misc.: Think it was the 52, 53 or 54 release as they were all 12.5 pct. ABV Had only heard great things about this monster. To see it on tap at my local brewery as one of the guest taps was an unexpected great pleasure. I believe there are a few bottles of this in town, but not sure Iíve seen it until this Saturday night in Alpine. Super excited for this one. Poured a black color with 3-to-4 fingers of rocky tan head when I got it. No bubbles underneath that I could see. Excellent foamy lacing. Great retention. (Sight - 4.25) Smelled coffee, espresso, cocoa, chocolate milk, caramel, toffee, milk chocolate, smooth bourbon, dark chocolate, roasty malts and roasty nuts. (Smell - 4.25) Everything was just bigger in the taste. Espresso, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, milk chocolate, perfectly smooth bourbon, roasty malts, toffee, caramel, leathery tobacco and hazelnut. (Taste - 4.50) Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth, slightly warming finish. (Feel - 4.50) This was just awesome. Would love to have a bomber of this bad boy. (Overall - 4.50) 4.43 98 A

A great bourbon barrel tasting. Very dark, nearly black in appearance with a great finish. The Baptist is a must try for anyone who likes great stouts and porters. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours pitch black with a small brown foam. Smells strongly of coffee and chocolate. Taste is dry chocolate and roasted coffee. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Epic Big Bad Baptist finishes with a lingering roasty dryness.

Notas intensas. Destaca el chocolate, cafť, vainilla e invariablemente el bourbon. De color negro profundo. Cuerpo redondo, densa.
