Release #10. Poured into a snifter out of a 22oz bomber. Pours inky black with just a small dark tan head that fades to a ring around the side of the glass. Pretty decent lacing considering the abv. Coffee is quite prominent in the aroma with hints of dark chocolate. Lots of roasted malt that seems slightly burnt. There is vanilla and just the slightest hint of whiskey buried way in the background. The coffee carries big time into the flavor mixed nicely with cocoa creating almost a mocha character. Lots and lots of heavily roasted malt that borders on being a bit acrid and charred. There is still just a little bourbon in the background that I wish was a little more prominent. Nice vanilla and caramel touches too. The alcohol is well hidden with just a slight warmth in the back of the throat with a creamy and just slightly sticky mouthfeel. Overall, a very tasty imperial stout but one that is not quite Earth-shattering. I don’t know if I would go out of my way to pick this up but if you do come across it, it is worth drinking.

Draft at the Roundhouse Amoy Street. Served in a chalice, pitch black with a 1cm coffee brown head. Intense burnt caramel and coffee aromas. Yeasty. Rich and chocolately mouth feel. A little bit metallic on the aftertaste, but otherwise an excellent imperial stout.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a nice large dark brown foamy head with good retention. Aroma of chocolate notes with light vanilla and coffee notes is quite awesome. Taste is also a great mix of creamy chocolate notes with some vanilla and bourbon notes and light floral coffee notes which is well integrated in the mix. Body has nice creamy texture with good carbonation and no real apparent alcohol notes. Super well-balanced with great drinkability.

Draft Extreme Beer Fest 2016. Pitch black, with an oily sheen on top. Aroma is real nice, Strong coffee bean, dark chocolate hints, and moderate roast.

I’m not sure how this would translate into a bottle but the sample in front of me is really nice! Mild roasted malts, charred grain. Chocolate covered coffee bean, with a very oily slick texture. Very mild bourbon character. Fuller/ dense body with a smooth level of carbonation. The sum of all the parts equals, enjoyable.

Pours black with a finger of tan head. Aroma of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, muscovado... Amazing nose. Taste is chocolate and coffee bitter up front followed by a velvety milk chocolate sweetness and then a rich bourbon boozy finish. Rich, creamy body with soft carbonation.

I grew up Southern Baptist. If they served this instead of grape juice, the pews would be filled. This is a big and bold stout with great bourbon and oak flavor. The pour is like a chocolate syrup, but with a touch of beige foam. The aroma is complex with a mix of bourbon, coffee, vanilla, and roasted hops. The initial taste is bold with the bourbon, oak, hops, coffee and caramel. As it sits in the mouth, the taste expands with a bit of roasted pecan added to the mix. The after taste wreaks heavenly of bourbon, hops and oak. Like the brewery, this is Epic.

650ml bottle enjoyed @ home, thanks to Tom! Pours black with a creamy and bubbly medium sized beige head. Aroma is awesome! Fresh brewed coffee, roasted malt, rich chocolate, vanilla, liquorice and a hint of bourbon. Flavour is light sweet and medium bitter. Full bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation. Finish is coffee, cocoa and nicely balanced bourbon. Very surprised by this one!

750 ml bottle from Vail Fine Wines. Pours pitch black with dark tan head. Rich chocolate, coffee, and malt taste balanced very well with bourbon barrels. Bourbon was an excellent accent and not the overwhelming presence that frequently occurs in many barrel-aged stouts. Excellent! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
