#10. Pours oily black with a nice, sticky tan head. Mostly coffee on the nose, along with dark malt--just a hint of vanilla and hops. On the tongue it's dark roast coffee, rich bitter chocolate, and a tiny bit of that whiskey barrel on the finish (want more!). Nice, smooth coffee stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Keg at Aces & Ales, Las Vegas. Black, tan head shrinks to a ring. Massive bourbon nose, though not super-boozy. Not much else. Big sweet dark toffee and bourbon, with bitter cocoa and coffee, and some tannic woody dryness. First sip I wasnít convinced but itís a grower.

Pours a pitch black body with a one finger chocolate head. Head retention is average and lacing is pretty good. Smell is of sweet, dark chocolate. Coffee and alcohol are pretty light. Burnt malts and dark chocolate really dominate smells. Taste is a mix of sweet chocolate malts, bitter coffee, finishes with a slight boozy burn. Very bold flavors with an alcohol kick. Mouthfeel is full bodied with a nice amount of carbonation. Silky smooth going down, lack of head doesnít affect the feel as much as Iíd expect. Overall this beer was pretty tasty. Good amount of chocolate, hint of coffee and alcohol. Not exactly session able but great for a special occasion.

"An aromatic explosion of wonderful coffee, whiskey, cocoa & vanilla. This brew is just about perfect in its balance between the barrels, the coffee (gotta find out what they used) and the beer. Looks great, motor oil with a luscious chocolate brown head. Very smooth, even more so as it warmed, which is odd for such a strong beer. The alcohol shows, but itís never cloying or hot. Great roasted coffee, barrel vanilla chocolate flavor too. Decadent and delicious. One for the ages. *disclaimer: this might even be higher if not for some batch/bottle variance." Had as high as 4.8, as "low" as 4.3-4.4.

22oz bomber (batch 22) from the Wine Shoppe (Brick NJ). Poured black with a huge creamy tan head. Aroma of strong coffee grounds, chocolate brownies, and leather. Taste is much the same. Strong coffee, chocolate, black malts, dry oak, and sweet caramel. Not getting and notes of bourbon in this batch, mostly coffee. Really solid beer nonetheless.

Bomber from Flanneryís in Oconomowoc, cellar aged 5 months and shared with ck1. A black pour with a chocolate milk head. Aroma has huge caramel, with some eventual light chocolate and molasses. Taste is sweet - quite caramelly - with vanilla and a cookie dough similarity. Somewhat thick. Finishes too sweetly. Not enough other presence to balance the caramel. 13.8

Tried release #29 courtesy of Jay in 2014. Fantasticly coffee filled and chocolate. Deep, black, and rich.

Huge coffee aroma - a big enough dose that would drive any Baptist back to Church. Pours black with good initial head and lacing. Very bitter finish. Thick, creamy texture. A little too much of a coffee bomb for me though. Tap at Black Squirrel.

Pours a pitch black with nice creamy brown head. Smells of bitter coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, slight fruit and a little tobacco. Taste is not as complex with tobacco, chocolate, burnt malt. No booze surprisingly. Slick and oily mouthfeel. Overall nice beer. Just wish the smell lived up to the taste ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, Batch 13. 8/8/14. Pours black with a very carbonated, fast fading chocolate colored head. Aroma is chocolate, cacao nibs, a little smokey, earthy, herbal, licorice, syrup, sweet, hints of dark fruit, some booze, vanilla, wood; very rich. Taste is similar and similarly rich; dark chocolate, cacao nibs, earthy, herbal, toffee, wood; finish is dark chocolate, roast malt. Very rich, indulgent. Lacing is thin. Full-bodied, coating. Medium-low carbonation. Big beer, huge profile. Fantastic.

Batch #22. Poured into a snifter. Maybe an inch of head and very little lacing. Pours dark as midnight. Sour burnt aroma. Ewwwww. Mouthfeel is good. Lighter than expected but with a little too much carb. Taste is a lot of coffee. Semi-sweet as well. Roasty and dark fruit. Bourbon is there as well but it's just another layer of flavor instead of being overbearing. Good job on that. Slight vanilla extract too. Good beer. Well balanced with little to no alcohol flavor but lots of warmth. Glad to have tried it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
