Nice looking pour, black with a one finger tan head. The aroma is predominantly of coffee grounds and the flavor has notes of dark chocolate, roasted nuts with some vanilla in the background. It has a nice creamy texgture

Bottle (Releast 27) shared at Porch Nite. Pours dark brown to black with two fingers of tan head. Aroma is lots of dark chocolate, some coffee and slight roast. Really nice beer. Flavor follows aroma and is fairly dry and learn. Really nice.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared at Anchorage Feb ’15 Tasting: Poured black with a tan color head. Aroma is strong coffee, cocoa, dark fruit and boozy hints. Taste flows similar with rich cocoa, super strong coffee bite, toasty malt, and very well hidden alcohol. Very warming to the core.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz. bottle, shared with Carlson in the backcountry, and drunk from the bottle, because I forgot my glass. Pitch black color, with a small, tan head. Nose is a pleasant mix of coffee and chocolate, with notes of anise, vanilla, and molasses. Very sweet, with some light malt spice, and no roasted bitterness. Heavy body, thick, malty, and slick, with a mild, pleasant aftertaste. This is a big, bold, and delicious stout, and the mixture of treatments is very well done.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber, release #28. Strong roasted malt aroma with coffee, chocolate and some bourbon and vanilla. Pours black with a thin light brown head and no lacing. Starts with rich roasted malt and chocolate flavors but with a thin body for an imperial stout. Finishes smooth with some vanilla and bourbon but roasted malt and coffee dominate the palate. Nice imperial stout, but not a lot of the characteristics of a bourbon stout.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from bottle from a # 39 vintage (11.7 % abv) into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a pitch black color with a one finger head of thick tan foam. The foam has a great level of retention, very slowly fading over a long time to leave a lighter level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Swirling the brew in the glass shows some thickness to the brew, with some fingers of beer clinging to the sides of the glass and slowly descending to the base of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is massive of a coffee smell mixed with tons of roasted malt and some aromas of a sweeter caramel and some chocolate. Mingling with these aromas are some wonderful smells of a more woody nature as well as some bourbon boozy smells. While there is a sweetness in the nose it is rather light in comparison to the other aromas, with the overall smell having a very rich and dark smell overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a huge flavor of a roasted malt mixed with a big showing of the coffee that was present in the nose. There is a lighter sweetness upfront of a caramel and vanilla nature, which grow stronger and stronger as the taste moves on further to the end. All while the sweetness increases, the roasted malt flavors actually dwindle, but are replaced by more and more coffee. While smoother upfront, boozy flavors of a bourbon nature as well as a bit of wood come to the tongue, bringing a bit of a burn and a little bit of an astringency. While this is said these coffee and alcohol flavors balance nicely the sweet, and with more caramel and cocoa coming to the tongue at the end of the taste, one is left with a massively rich and boozy, but very enjoyable flavor, to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – While still rather thick, the body of the beer is actually somewhat light for a beer of 11.7 % with a carbonation level that is rather average. A little thicker of a body may have been slightly better for the super rich dark, boozy, and sweet flavors of the brew. Although with that said, for the big coffee and bourbon boozy flavors of the beer, the feel was somewhat appropriate and made for a wonderfully easy-ish drinking brew (as at 11.7 % easy-ish is what you want… so…).
Overall – This is a fantastic brew with tons of flavor!! Deep and dark, but balanced by some nice sweetness. It is also bourbon boozy but still very drinkable. Along with this the beer has loads of delicious coffee. One amazingly flavorful and delicious brew!!

A great bourbon barreled beer. Pours a beautiful deep brown-black with a brown head. Smells great, bourbon and caramel and buttery cracker. Taste is very thick and Bourbon, with some vanilla and chocolate and more butteriness in the finish. Had on tap at Beer Craft.
