(bottle - 22 oz - Release #9) Pitch black pour with a thick and creamy tan head. Aroma is a large combination of oak, coffee, chocolate and burnt malts. Smells very warm and inviting on a cold day. Coffee and chocolate at the start of the flavor with a heavy roasted middle and a sweet finish from the oak and chocolate. Almost a bit of licorice mixed in there somewhere too. Very creamy.

Looks like the bottle says Release # 40 11.5% but I didn’t but it very long ago, must be #27. The aroma is coffee, roasty, hints of chocolate. Pours black with tan brown head, mostly diminishing, good lacing. The taste is sweet/sour then bitter. The body is medium to full, the texture creamy, the carbonation average and the finish long. Very good!

Draft. Not sure of the release number, but Glendale Tap listed it as 11.5% ABV. Big aroma of dark chocolate. (I got less coffee on the nose than other reviewers.) Flavor was of a thick chocolate drink served cold, with some notes of espresso, vanilla and some fig. Clean finish. No hint of alcohol. Pretty magnificent.

Release #20. Poured from a bomber into a tulip on 06.17.14. A: 1/3 finger tan head that quickly recedes. Midnight black body with no red in the glass. S: Strong coffee with a chocolate base. T: Coffee is dominant. A tiny bit of vanilla is subtle. Fig and pepper come out on the finish when it’s warm. M: Creamy. Soda-level bubbles on the tongue. I don’t usually care much about mouthfeel, but this one is too bubbly. O: The coffee was too strong in this one. It overpowered everything else. The vanilla was barely there to the point that it seemed like a stout that hadn’t been aged in barrels. There was also a massive alcohol burn which is understandable at 10.5% ABV, but other BB stouts have hidden the alcohol much better. I’m aging another one that hopefully turns out better. I wouldn’t buy this one again, as it is.

On tap at Vintner. Black color, tan head, roasted coffee and chocolate in the nose. Taste very thick, smooth, rich, creamy, chocolate and coffee are very noticable. Good stuff; did not get that it was bourbon barrel aged, but if it was, thats a good sign - it was not over powered with bourbon.

Via trade with Boltz7555. The aroma is nice smooth coffee, chocolate. The appearance s deep black, oily, deep tan head. The flavor is coffee, cream, chocolate, molasses. Nicely done. Medium, medium/thick in body. The finish is roasty, pine, light booze. Nice overall.

Bottle, release 34. Black body, head the color of good espresso crema, fades quick, decent lace. Aroma is cherries, dried plums, figs, molasses, anise, cocoa, tobacco coffee roasted barley, vanilla, some dry smoke, alcohol. The taste is burnt sugar, coffee, anise, bittersweet chocolate, citrus rind, tobacco, molasses, vanilla, bourbon. The smell promissed more than the flavor delivered at first. This is deep. Still this may get my first perfect aroma score. Palate is very rich and thick, carbonation is moderate, but almost too sharp, for how big this is. This is a monster big dry stout. Best I’ve had in months. Finish is very dry, almost astringent, and bitter, but not choking, just in that way that makes me want more. Oh, if I’d only known to get more of these...what would another year in the cellar do for this?!

full review: http://t.co/DXsrUBLwT0 From start to finish this beer is purely enjoyable. The aroma swirls between chocolate and coffee as it enters the nose. On the taste, I get chocolate as it transforms into coffee, and finishes with the hints of bourbon and barrel. This is fully bodied and coats the back of the throat. An enjoyable after taste.

Bomber. Batch #37. First impression is that it smells like bourbon county coffe. Well as much coffee, maybe not as much bourbon. But as close as it gets to a perfect coffee stout. Taste, although still good, is a bit of a letdown. Mild chocolate, sweet bourbon, coffee (which worked much better on the aroma) and bitter vanilla. Average to maybe on the tho side for such a big beer.

batch 34 Very dark brown pour. Aroma char, mesquite, wood. Tastes malted milk with very strong coffee, char, slight choco. Sweet somewhat syrupy. even has the acidic palate of a coffee
