Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks good; cola with foamy light beige head. Smells and tastes of dark malt and blueberries with some roast too. Average on the palate. Okay, but forgettable, and I couldn’t drink much of it.
2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Scopey (3229) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2013
Bottle at CGarvie tasting (release #1). It pours very dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is buttered toast, roasted malt....not much else. The taste is dark fruit, berry, light tanginess, roasty, earth, faint jam, toast, light spice and wood. Medium body and fine carbonation. Odd...tastes better than the buttery smell anyways!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 demmbonz (300) - Wisconsin, USA - APR 30, 2013
Bomber from sledutah. Delicious blackberry aroma from a dark pour. Nice fruity flavor over the malty porter. Just a hint of spruce tips. A bit sour on the finish.

Bottle. Very dark brown with tan head. Strange aroma, buttery, sweaty. Similar taste, sweaty socks, some fruit. Tangy, slightly sour. Not great

bottle at home Release 1 ... deep in black ... thin tan lacing ... soft butter ... roast malts ... soft off butter flavour ... soft roast ... soft blackberry ... shame as this is nice behind the butter ...

Certainly not your traditional porter! I sort of like it! Never thought I would describe a porter as "refreshing," but this one is. It actually blends / melds pretty well. Not something I would drink all the time, but nice to try.
4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Braudog (5025) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - APR 15, 2013
Bottle. Perfect visuals for an American porter. Big, dark, black, frothy and rich-looking. The aroma is killer -- full of sweet roast, hops, and a bit of spruce. This drinks with a big time mouthfeel, and full of flavor. The spruce adds and phenomenal factor, a bit of earthy flourish to an already full-up porter. Brilliant. I want more. (#4987, 4/15/2013)

Messy aroma of clove, smoke and maple. Deep brownish black with thin foam. Over carbonated flavors of maple, toffee and very smokey. Slight metallic flavor with a weak coffee finish. Overall, it’s very messy and unbalanced. The flavor is all over the place. I’d give this a D rating.

January 2013. 22 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Floral and resin notes with some berries blended in, but overall this one did not work for me.
