2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Appearance: Even through the darkest light the center of this appears black, the edges are a deep purple to garnet hued though with some sediment showing. The head is short, quickly forming a thin tan coating with a bubbly edge.
Aroma: The aroma smells a bit of jam with a dash of pine needles. The aroma is weak and fruity mostly, not appealing or painful.
Taste: Very slight chocolate upfront and throughout with a dash of fruitiness and pine on the finish lingering a minute. Nothing bold, very light in flavor. The chocolate malts show through more as I drink it, but this is a bit watery. The finish is sort of piney, sort of metallic.
Palate: A bit watery with light carbonation.
Overall: A very meh porter. I see that the second release was higher in ABV so maybe Epic saw that this was too thin also? Very thin and lacking in much character. Itís inoffensive, but itís nothing I would want to drink again in this state.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nice. Strong blackberry infused flavor. Port base is good. Surprisingly carbonated -- a fizzy pour. Slightly tart; nor sweet.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle v1:   Deep cola, thin frothy tannish head, little lacing.   Roasted malts, ashy, charred wood on the nose.   Faint spruce tip, but not much in the way of blackberries.   Minor dark chocolate, or bakers chocolate.   Ashy, very ashy, roasted malts, light bitterness, bakers chocolate.   Not too bitter, not all that malty.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   A little astringent on the finish.   Not a very clean example.   Wished it had more blackberries.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black with a tan head. Light lacing with a film of retention. Nose of light roast, chocolate, blackberry and some roasty sourness. Tastes of blackberry and/or blueberry extract, dark chocolate, light candy sweetness and dries out on the backend. Medium feel, medium body, and a light sourness.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap @ Malibu Sundowner. Dark brown, just about black, with a khaki head. Interesting nose. Definitely get some berries which add a light tartness. Herbal pine and spruce, roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Mild caramel sweetness. Flavor is roast, berries, and herbs. Decent amount of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. A hint of ash, light sweetness, and a dry finish. Interesting, but not bad.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber, release #1. Poured cola brown with a short, reddish-tinted beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter blackberries, vanilla, and cocoa with light herbal accents.. lots more blackberry jam on the back of the nose.. not totally my thing, but it was aiight. The flavor found similar stuff.. cocoa, vanilla, and blackberry meat at the core, with light earthy and herbal bitterness around.. picked up a little tart blackberry seed over cocoa and vanilla on the moderately-roasty finish. Light-medium bodied and dry on the palate.. a bit tangy from the berries and the spruce.. this was OK, but I probably wouldíve preferred straight-up porter.
