COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brainless Belgian-Style Golden Ale is has a rich and complex malt flavor balanced with a little bit of spicy noble hops and strong influences of fermentation esters from the Belgian yeast used. Various Belgian like Rock Candies, hops and grains are employed to express variations within the style. Deceivingly drinkable, some liken theses ales to the Devil sneaking up on you, so consume responsibly.

10 oz goblet at the brewery. Pours gold with active carbonation. The nose is phenolic with clove up front and hints at ripe fruit, coriander, banana, pepper and hay. The body is full with a well rounded and balanced sweetness. The alcohol is hidden. Itís a touch too clovey for me, but it isnít obnoxious. Plenty of yeast notes play off the sweetness, giving this a fruity, spicy character. It finishes with a nice spicy note to balance things out. This one is pretty good, certainly for the price.

degbert (1149) - Austin, Texas, USA - SEP 28, 2014
Bottle, release #74. Pours an incredibly clear gold with a high, medium-grained, white, lacy head. The nose has malic, phenolic, and yeasty elementsl, along with a biscuity, toasty undertone.Sweet at the front at the tongue -- surprisingly so -- right in the apple/orange range, and that sweetness never really lets up, though thereís some bitterness on the midpalate. There was a heavy hand with the rock candy sugar, to be sure. Finish is mellow and, yes, sweet. Not bad if youíre into the sweet stuff, but I have a little disconnect between the color and the RS.

Rich biscuit malt, sweet honey, mild orange, yeast, pepper, sweet finish. Decent one, a bit like a strong sweet Leffe Blonde.

22 oz bottle from Bloomfield Costco. Release #74 - ABV = 9.3%. High alcohol content comes through smell and taste. Consistent in aroma, appearance and taste with other Belgian tripels Iíve had. For high ABV, small but pleasant aftertaste. Not sure if Iíd buy again but Iíd try another Epic Brewing beer for sure.

Pours a cloudy orangish gold color. Aroma and taste are sweet with caramel and honey.

650ml bottle (BierKompass.de)
Typical saison yeast aroma. Slightly sweet grungy taste. Finish is a bit hot, definitely. Typical saison yeast taste. But so much booze. Rough, vegetal, and boozy. Of all the "saison" fashion-following beers, this is a new low.

Marduk (2795) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - AUG 2, 2014
660ml bottle. Slightly hazy amber color. Small size, bubbly head, disappears. Oranges, fruity, bit farty, slightly shitty aroma. Holy mary and joseph! Itís 30C outside and Iím semi dehydrated and Iím struggling to drink that. Why? Because itís a mess. Epic fail to imidate Belgians.

ABUSEDGOAT (2413) - California, USA - JUL 14, 2014
Hazy golden color, moderate head, decent lace/retention. Aroma is yeast, lightly spicy, pale malt, lightly sugary. Medium bodied, moderate to low sweetness, alcohol hidden well.

Draft at Barrelhouse 101. Nose is candisugar, cloves, bubblegum, and raisins. Hazy amber with a small beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet, spicy, and only a tiny bit of bitter.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a snifter and a tulip. The appearance and smell were basically the same in both bottles. The appearance was a nice looking hazy yet glossy burnt orange to ruddy brown color. The head was about a fingerís worth of white foaminess coating the top of the beer nicely. The head gracefully died at a nice pace leaving a nice clingy light foaminess around the sides of the glass. The smell had a nice authentic Belgian spiciness intertwining itself in between sweet malts and even letting in some light oranges to intermingle and dance underneath my nose. The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors and seemed like it was almost perfectly blended into a really nice flavoring all around. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a sessionability that wanted to show but alas, it could not prove itself to be so. No worries as a sipper, this one danced around my palate skirting a sharpness to pummel but still allowing a nice gentle rolling smoothness every now and again. Overall, this was an absolutely wonderful offering from Epic more than worthy of having again.
