3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tap at Crank n Stein in Fort Collins - a fairly sweet Belgian, with strong banana notes, light pepper and some starchy notes - hints of pepper and boiled rice - quite sweet and strongly peppery - meh.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: FEB 10, 2013 Sample at the 2012 Cincinnati Brew-haha. A nice, faded yellow color. Little off-white head. Tangy sweetness. Spicy, citrusy aroma. Lighter, and crisp carbonation. Nice spicier aftertaste, easy to drink. An enjoyable Belgian-style. 7 / 3 / 6 / 4 / 13
Re-rate from a nitro pint, 2/10/13: 8.8% ABV. Totally cloudy golden yellow color. Thin white head leaves good, thick lace. Bigger body. Smooth, light carbonation makes this go down easy. No lingering viscosity or syrupy texture. Spicy citrusy hop aroma. Belgian yeast. Some banana in the finish. Sweeter taste. Interesting yeast characteristic on this one. Solid American take on a belgian.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled this at The Dabbler yesterday. Quite pleasant and true to style, but still not on the same level as the authentic belgians.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Release 17. 8.5%. Golden with ring. Herbal bready apricot aroma. Fruity sweet apricot nearing syrupy with assertive lingering spicy bitterness. Too bitter and too full-bodied for the delicate style. Still, pretty good.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Served on draft.
Arrived a clear straw yellow with thin fizzy white head.
Smells extremely malty. Lots of biscuit going on with some banana character.
The taste is very malty almost to the point of being chalky. There are notes of clove and banana from the yeast but malt takes center stage.
Overall I enjoyed this beer. It is more malty than other Belgian Pale Ales I have had but that’s good with me. It definitely drinks easier than a 8.3% beer.
Serving type: on-tap

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
650 ml bottle
Despite the higher score this was not quite as good as the peach version. i don’t know if it was the lack of depth or some other minor detail but it just felt like it was missing something key. Even so it was almost worth the price I paid a few months ago for the bottle. Maybe the newer batches will be better.
Aroma / Appearance - A golden semi-carbonated base looks like it was the reference for the cherry and peach versions. Like a decent champagne it sparkles with life. Apple crisp, cider, peaches, and cream all contend for attention in a crowded, distracting nose. Spices back things up.
Flavor / Palate - Honey drizzled over fresh apple slices start to tickle the senses. Light fruity esters transition to a sweet finish. It feels like a sweet Belgian ale yet it also feels like it lacks that little something extra. Maybe it would have been better to try this before the other two versions.
