COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brainless Belgian-Style Golden Ale is has a rich and complex malt flavor balanced with a little bit of spicy noble hops and strong influences of fermentation esters from the Belgian yeast used. Various Belgian like Rock Candies, hops and grains are employed to express variations within the style. Deceivingly drinkable, some liken theses ales to the Devil sneaking up on you, so consume responsibly.

Served on draft. Arrived a clear straw yellow with thin fizzy white head. Smells extremely malty. Lots of biscuit going on with some banana character. The taste is very malty almost to the point of being chalky. There are notes of clove and banana from the yeast but malt takes center stage. Overall I enjoyed this beer. It is more malty than other Belgian Pale Ales I have had but that’s good with me. It definitely drinks easier than a 8.3% beer. Serving type: on-tap

Despite the higher score this was not quite as good as the peach version. i don’t know if it was the lack of depth or some other minor detail but it just felt like it was missing something key. Even so it was almost worth the price I paid a few months ago for the bottle. Maybe the newer batches will be better.

Aroma / Appearance - A golden semi-carbonated base looks like it was the reference for the cherry and peach versions. Like a decent champagne it sparkles with life. Apple crisp, cider, peaches, and cream all contend for attention in a crowded, distracting nose. Spices back things up.

Flavor / Palate - Honey drizzled over fresh apple slices start to tickle the senses. Light fruity esters transition to a sweet finish. It feels like a sweet Belgian ale yet it also feels like it lacks that little something extra. Maybe it would have been better to try this before the other two versions.

22oz bottle-thanks to jtclockwork for sharing–pours a dissipating white head and yellow/gold color. Aroma is sweet light malt, peach, some spice/herb, yeast-clove. Taste is sweet light malt, secondary spice hops, yeast-clove/pepper.

Bottle. Nice brew with a floral, caramel, bread and spice aroma. The flavors match the aroma. Pretty good.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, malt syrup), lightly hoppy (herbs), lightly yeasty (basement), with notes of pepper, banana, gum, alcohol. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Reasonably attractive aroma, maybe a little limited in depth but decent enough balance. A little clunky in the mouth, but ok. Wouldn’t buy it again but it’s not unpleasant.

Recent bottle from New Jersey. Pours a deep yellow with only a thin head. Gives off yeast and boozy scent. Above average mouthfeel that contains taste of light peach, pepper, and a tad of bubble gum, but also it is bathed in alcohol. Drinkable as a sipper with a meal, but its somewhat of a beer cocktail.

Aroma: Very aromatic, with hints of clove, vanilla, and caramel. Some fruit aromas, too--peaches, and perhaps melon. Appearance: Hazy gold with thick, white head. Taste: Medium-Heavy sweetness all the way through, with an initial light sourness to balance it out. Still, the sweetness overwhelms in the finish. Palate: Full body, thick, creamy texture, soft carbonation, long, sweet finish. Overall: This is really solid and well developed, but it seems fairly ordinary. It’s obviously well crafted, but not mind blowingly brilliant to stand out amongst the rest.

There’s a lot going on here. Fruity--apricots and summer-fresh plums; spicy--coriander, white pepper; and caramel. Not extremely fizzy but still a good mouthfeel. Bottle.
