COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brainless Belgian-Style Golden Ale is has a rich and complex malt flavor balanced with a little bit of spicy noble hops and strong influences of fermentation esters from the Belgian yeast used. Various Belgian like Rock Candies, hops and grains are employed to express variations within the style. Deceivingly drinkable, some liken theses ales to the Devil sneaking up on you, so consume responsibly.

Ernest (6183) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 6, 2011
Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, malt syrup), lightly hoppy (herbs), lightly yeasty (basement), with notes of pepper, banana, gum, alcohol. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Reasonably attractive aroma, maybe a little limited in depth but decent enough balance. A little clunky in the mouth, but ok. Wouldn’t buy it again but it’s not unpleasant.

Sammy (8524) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 5, 2011
Recent bottle from New Jersey. Pours a deep yellow with only a thin head. Gives off yeast and boozy scent. Above average mouthfeel that contains taste of light peach, pepper, and a tad of bubble gum, but also it is bathed in alcohol. Drinkable as a sipper with a meal, but its somewhat of a beer cocktail.

Aroma: Very aromatic, with hints of clove, vanilla, and caramel. Some fruit aromas, too--peaches, and perhaps melon. Appearance: Hazy gold with thick, white head. Taste: Medium-Heavy sweetness all the way through, with an initial light sourness to balance it out. Still, the sweetness overwhelms in the finish. Palate: Full body, thick, creamy texture, soft carbonation, long, sweet finish. Overall: This is really solid and well developed, but it seems fairly ordinary. It’s obviously well crafted, but not mind blowingly brilliant to stand out amongst the rest.

There’s a lot going on here. Fruity--apricots and summer-fresh plums; spicy--coriander, white pepper; and caramel. Not extremely fizzy but still a good mouthfeel. Bottle.

Boutip (4661) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 26, 2011
Bottle: Poured a hazy bright golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet malt with some peppery yeast notes is interesting. Taste is a mix between somewhat overly sweet malt with notes of peppery yeast. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad but just a bit too sweet for the style and a bit more complexity in the ester would have been a good improvement.

Batch #19 : Pour is murky light golden with a fine bubbled white head that retains on the average side in this glass. Sticky lacing is present in this glass (a tulip) as well. The nose is a little sweet, grains, grassy hops, and fruits, like peaches. The flavor profile, i thought initially, was a fairly proper belgian, but those fruit esters and general sweet bread notes don’t quite mesh for me; in the mean time, the finish is a little sweet, and a little bitter as well. Its a decent Belgian but...

pours a light gold from 22oz bomber - Epic did some nice things with this one: banana and cloves in your face with some mildly sweet notes of butterscotch and banana bread. Really smooth, nice effort.

Very drinkable tripel flavors. Belgian candy with a little hop presence. Fairly easy palate for a style that can sometimes come across as harsh. Good effort here.
