Brainless Belgian-Style Golden Ale is has a rich and complex malt flavor balanced with a little bit of spicy noble hops and strong influences of fermentation esters from the Belgian yeast used. Various Belgian like Rock Candies, hops and grains are employed to express variations within the style. Deceivingly drinkable, some liken theses ales to the Devil sneaking up on you, so consume responsibly.

Clear gold in color, smells of wheat and lemon zest, with a touch of barnyard hay. Taste has a bit more malted sweet barley than I expected. Pretty crisp, yet kinda bland. Considering the hay, funk, and citrus, you’d think this was a saison. Not bad, just not very memorable.

Bottle. Lightish yellow gold that’s mostly clear, with a very thin white head. Yeasty and faily boring overall in the aroma. Touch of booze in the flavor, which turned me off, but yeasty, slight hop presence and some candy. Lighter, fluffy body. Just OK.

Thanks to IBrew2or3 for the share. Pours clear yellow with a white receding head. Nose is apple, sugar, sweetness, light caramel, and a bit of mild bitterness. Flavor is similar with red apple and sweet malt all over. The mild hops usually stay towards the back. Light to medium-bodied and a lingering sweetness as it departs.

Very drinkable, perferred this to the cherry & peach varients. If memory serves this was #5. Refreshing and smooth, drink it.

First beer from this brewery. Pours a light golden color that is quite clear with a bit of visible carbonation. Fairly-large white head lasts for a time before falling and leaving behind a bit of lace. The nose is typical for the style, though does not stand out. Yeast of course provides the dominant characteristics. Some white pepper as well as a bit of mild earth. The taste is a bit flat with some faint pepper and a bit of miscellaneous spice. A touch of alcohol as well, though overall it’s pretty tame. A pretty good offering. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 02-22-2011

Release 11 8.8 ABV: Funky banana and apple nose, very funky. Clear golden, medium head, good retention. Fullish body. Apple is dominant with a subtle undercurrent of not quite ripe banana. Decent beer, but doesn’t stand out in a crowd.

22oz Bottle Thanks to Sam first release. Pours out golden topped with a small bubble head. Aroma was of lemon zest, spice, some belg yeast, and a little sweetness. Taste was much as the aroma with some honey sweetness on the end.

The Big Hunt, DC tap ($8): Pours a golden color with a white head. Aroma is of candy, fruit, and sugar. The beer itself is definitely too sweet for my tastes, although not really cloying like Creme Brule Imperial Stout. You have plenty of fruit flavors in there, along with a positive yeast strain. Not really much in the way of hops. However, it is really easy to drink and the alcohol is covered up pretty admirably. Not the best of the style, but an OK attempt..

I thought this was a nice belgian ale but just didnt stack up to the few i had tried in the same session. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t special. I would still drink it again, happily.
